The Denali Star Train travels from Anchorage to Fairbanks every day during the summertime, with stops at Wasilla, Talkeetna and Denali National Park along the way. The daily travel schedule makes the train an ideal option for fitting easily into your schedule.
The Denali Star provides many different options that you can choose based on your time availability and travel desires. Anchorage-based passengers can easily pair day trips to Talkeetna with a train ride on the Denali Star, while Fairbanks-based passengers could easily utilize the Denali Star for daytrips down to Denali National Park, with a return trip back home to Fairbanks by evening.
If you’re not in a hurry and you want to experience more of what Alaska has to offer, you might even consider planning a multi-day trip along the Alaska rail-line with overnight stays along the way.

The Denali Star Train offers two classes of passenger service: GoldStar Service and Adventure Class service.
GoldStar Service
If you are looking for the height of luxury and service during your trip, then the GoldStar Service is for you. GoldStar service includes all meals and soft beverages on board as well as two adult beverages during your trip. GoldStar railcars feature glass-dome ceilings that provide premium, panoramic views of the Alaskan countryside as you travel.
GoldStar passengers can also take advantage of upper-level outdoor viewing platforms, an all-inclusive, private, full service dining cart, and premium-comfort seating that offers extra legroom and more space to stretch and relax.
Adventure Class
The Adventure Class service offers comfortable seating and large picture windows at the best rate available. Adventure Class passengers have the freedom to roam about between railcars and have access to the Vista Dome cars and the Wilderness Cafe dining car.
The Coastal Classic Train serves the area between Anchorage and Seward, including the communities of Whittier, Portage Spencer and Grandview. Many people consider this stretch of railway to be the most beautiful scenic stretch of countryside in Alaska!
From Anchorage, the Coastal Classic Train winds its way southeast along Turnagain Arm and through Alaska’s beautiful backcountry in the Kenai Peninsula. This route will take you past beautiful glaciers, towering waterfalls, jaw-dropping vistas and breathtaking mountains and valleys.
Your journey will culminate in the coastal town of Seward where the train will roll to a stop along the shores of Resurrection Bay.
A 7-hour layover in Seward will give you lots of time to explore all that this beautiful and fascinating seaside village has to offer, including the wonders and adventures to be enjoyed in Kenai Fjords National Park!
Seward is home to not only most of the cruises and tours that explore the national park, but several other attractions as well. The popular Exit Glacier is a fun glacier to explore that is only minutes from downtown. You could also visit the Alaska SeaLife Center to spend some up-close time with some of the most popular and unique marine wildlife that the area is famous for, or visit Seavey kennel to meet and interact with some famous Iditarod champion sled dogs, learn what it takes to be a champion musher, and do a little mushing yourself on a dogsled day trip adventure!
