Come witness first hand, what it looks like to live a real Alaskan lifestyle and bask in the warm hospitality of new friends, both of the human and husky variety at the Husky Homestead, the home of Jeff King, 4-time Iditarod Champion and his team of Husky athletes.
Jeff King is recognized as the 'Winningest Musher in the World!' A four-time champion of the 1000+ mile Iditarod race as well as having more than two dozen other first place finishes in many other races across Alaska. Jeff and his team of athletes and trainers have true enthusiasm for the sport of dog sled racing and the Alaskan lifestyle as a whole. This enthusiasm is infectious and the love and respect that Jeff and his staff have for the canine athletes is apparent in everything that they do.
Summer tours run early-June through late-August and take place just outside the entrance to Denali National Park at the Husky Homestead.
The Husky Homestead tour is a top-rated, five-star, highly recommended activity in the Denali National Park area and has been called engaging, informative, fun and a wonderfully authentic look into a real, rural Alaskan lifestyle. You will be fascinated by engaging stories and insights that come straight from more than 40-years of Alaskan adventures lived by Jeff King and his wonderful staff.
The first order of duty upon arrival at the Homestead is to meet the newest team of 'athletes in training' as you will be cuddling with some adorable Husky pups as soon as you step off the bus. These adorable little athletes in the making are so cute and cuddly that you will not want to quit. And this practice is as good for the pups as it is for you, as it is helping them to socialize with new people.
However, the ‘Husky pup social’ is only the beginning of this fun adventure. Next comes a fascinating look into the lifestyle and training habits of these amazing four-legged athletes as you join the Husky Homestead staff for an inside look at what it takes to foster a championship Iditarod team and carve out a life in Alaska's rugged interior.
See how the Husky athletes train, watch them explode from the yard on a training run, and see their beauty and passion for the sport as they run on a custom-built 50' training treadmill. You will receive first-hand accounts from the Iditarod trail and other championship races across Alaska and you will have an opportunity to see actual sleds used in the races as well as arctic survival gear and other crucial equipment used in Alaska's biggest dog sled races.
All guests to Husky Homestead will need to provide their own transportation. Driving directions to the location will be provided at the time your booking is confirmed.
