The crew at Puffin Charters has been guiding Salmon and Halibut fishing trips in the waters around Seward Alaska for more then 25 years! The charter captains bring a combined experience of nearly 50 years… they know where the fish are and how to get you where you need to be for success!

The entire crew at Puffin Charters excels in hospitality, fishing prowess, and seamanship with the utmost priority on safety and providing a fun and memorable experience!

The charter fleet includes custom 36-foot charter boats built with comfort and safety in mind. The spacious decks allow you to fish around the entire perimeter offering plenty of room for everyone onboard. Cabins are heated and offer suspension seating throughout so everyone will enjoy a comfortable ride. Captains are US Coast Guard licensed with First Aid and CPR certifications.

Each charter vessel is equipped with top-of-the-line gear and tackle and outfitted with Garmin electronics that will ensure you stay on top of the fish!

Halibut & Rockfish Charter
Summary:	During early season (April – early June) these trips target both Halibut and Rockfish. Beginning mid June these trips focus solely on Halibut. The schools of Halibut that run the inland waters of Alaska provide outstanding opportunities to reel in monsters up to 400 pounds! These Halibut rise from ocean depths exceeding 1000 feet, to swim the inland waters as shallow as 50 feet while searching for bait. These fighters are some of the finest athletes in the ocean, having very little body fat and impressive muscle. Bringing in these fish can be an exhilarating, exhausting and thrilling event even for the most experienced anglers. These trips are great for those who are looking to hunt down those trophy monsters!
Availability:	June 6 – Aug 23 – daily except Wednesdays
Trip time:	Meet at the Alaska Seafood Grill between 5:30am to 5:45am. The Grill will open at 5am and have coffee and quick breakfast options. Your charter crew will meet you there and walk you down to the boats. Charters leave the dock promptly at 6am and return between 4:30 and 6pm.

Halibut & Silver Salmon Charter
Summary:	Unleash your inner angler on this dynamic fishing adventure! Haul in heavyweight Halibut and bottom dwellers with top-of-the-line, robust rods and tackle. Then, switch gears and finesse feisty Salmon with a technique as thrilling as the catch itself. Instead of dragging bait passively, you will use a method called 'mooching.' where you will actively jig your line, enticing nearby Salmon with a bite-sized herring. Feel the tug as a fish investigates, then the satisfying set of the hook as the battle begins. This interactive approach proves superior to trolling when targeting schooled fish, maximizing the fight and your angling prowess. Resurrection Bay offers a generous limit of six Silver Salmon per person, while venturing outside the bay rewards you with three prized Silvers each. You will strategically split the day, dedicating half to mooching for these feisty fighters and the other half to battling hefty Halibut. Imagine reeling in a magnificent Halibut tipping the scales between 20 and 80 pounds! It's not uncommon to witness hauls exceeding 100 pounds in these bountiful Alaskan waters. Are you ready to experience the thrill?

King (Chinook) Salmon & Halibut Charter
Summary:	This exciting adventure offered May 1’st through June provides some of the most exhilarating, rod-bending, and heart pumping action you will probably ever experience while fishing! King (Chinook) Salmon are the largest Salmon in the Pacific Ocean weighing in at 15 to 60 pounds and they put up a good fight! This trip runs for about 8 to 10 weeks early season until the Silver (Coho) Salmon start to run. These trips involve mostly trolling at slower speeds while drawing lines through the water at different depths. The limit for these “Kings” is 1 or 2 per person per day depending on the area fished.

3/4 Day Non-Halibut Combo Charter
Summary:	Pacific Cod has been growing rapidly in both the commercial and sport-fishing categories in recent years. Pacific Cod is a tasty white-meat fish that is often served as an alternative to Halibut because it is a much more economically friendly option. Fishing for Pacific Cod provides a much more fast-action type of experience and reeling in this “Grey Gold,” as it is called in the commercial fish industry, is a great way to round out your freezer with healthy and delicious seafood!

Non-Halibut King (Chinook) Salmon & Rockfish Charter
Summary:	Have you ever dreamt of a fight so epic, your muscles scream and your rod begs for mercy? Then look no further! This Alaskan adventure pits you against the mighty King Salmon, the undisputed heavyweight champion of Pacific salmon. These magnificent beasts tip the scales at a staggering 15-60 pounds (sometimes even more!) The King (Chinook) Salmon & Rockfish Charter trip targets these 'feeder Kings' early in the season, before the Silvers arrive. Forget the slow troll. Your expert captains, veterans of countless King battles, will deploy a strategic spread of lures and bait, enticing these finicky feeders to a fight they won't forget. Imagine the heart-pounding moment your line explodes, the reel screams, and the battle commences. Prepare for an unforgettable display of raw power and resilience as you wrestle this king of salmon to the surface.

Early May- Late August Special - Halibut & Rockfish Charter
Summary:	This early season trip allows for some great opportunities to go after prized trophy Alaskan Halibut boasting sizes up to 400 pounds! Early season brings the Halibut up from their usual ocean depths (over 1,000 feet down) to much more shallow waters as they search for bait. This trip is nearly the same as the regular Halibut and Rockfish charter trips, but you get to take advantage of early season discounted pricing!
Availability:	May 2 – June 5 & August 26 - September 9 (Daily except Wednesdays)

Terms & Policies

You must purchase a fishing license prior to your trip. If on a King Salmon combo you must purchase a King Salmon Stamp.

What To Bring: In addition to a fishing license, you will need to bring food and beverages. Warm, layered clothing, water-resistant shoes-boots, and raingear is recommended. Other items that you should consider are hat, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, and seasickness remedies. You might want to bring a camera and binoculars, as well. No large coolers please, You're welcome to bring a small cooler for your lunch, if you'd like.

Deposit - 100%

Cancellation - Cancellations for whatever reason made 30 days or more prior to your trip will result in a refund of your deposit less a 10% processing fee. If the cancellation is made within 30 days prior to the trip, your deposit will be forfeited. Trips cancelled because of weather conditions with the boat not leaving the dock will result in a complete refund of your trip. If the trip is cancelled because of mechanical problems, you will be placed on another boat or your trip will be refunded.
