Built in 1928 by the architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood, the same architect who built the Lodge at Bryce Canyon and the Zion Lodge, the historic Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim has been a popular destination to gaze across the vast expanse of the canyon for the last 90 years. This beautiful and unique lodge sits right on the canyon rim with some canyon view accommodations and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view. The lodge comprises various cabin styles and a motel building surrounded by pines. The main lodge building houses a dining room overlooking the canyon, a deli, coffee shop and 'Roughrider Saloon'.
In contrast to the busier South Rim, the Grand Canyon Lodge's remote location provides the perfect setting for ultimate relaxation and abundant activities. Its operating season is mid-May to mid-October, and many hikes, ranging from beginner to advanced, are accessible from the lodge. To really experience the history of the Grand Canyon, take a mule ride through the 7th Wonder of the World into the canyon and choose from one-hour to half-day trips.
Because the Grand Canyon Lodge is the only lodge on the North Rim, reservations fill up quickly. It is recommended that you book at least a year in advance to experience this remarkable lodge and its unique perspective of the Grand Canyon.
