Not recommended if you have small children

We went to check in at the time named online and had to wait 3 hours to be assigned/allowed into our dome. When (after 1 hour) I asked about the delay, the employees were very snitty and pointed out that "checkout STARTS AT 4:00" but we can't actually expect to get our dome at that time, and made very clear that I should be chilling and enjoying a cocktail (with my kids??) for those three hours while I waited to check in. We so wished we'd just gone with a hotel so our children could nap!

The beds were comfortable and the food from the outdoor food truck was really good! David and everyone in the dining dome was the best! Also, the yoga was very good!

Fantastic Family experience at Clear Sky Resorts - definitely recommended!

Published Date: Nov, 15, 2024 Travel Date: Jul, 1, 2024 Rating: 4 Our family (2 adults and 2 kids aged 16 and 9) stayed in a Grand Canyon XL dome at Clear Skys for 2 nights and overall had a great time.
The location is off the highway 64 from Williams to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, about 30 minutes to the park entrance. Probably need to have your google maps or equivalent on to find it and hold your nerve as you drive down the bumpy road to get there!
The views from the location were amazing - great Arizona landscapes and amazing sunrises and sunsets.
The dome itself is also great for views - you can keep the curtain open for a permanent view and also the roof view open to see the stars from inside your bed. In terms of sleeping there was one large bed downstairs and then a small upstairs sleeping area for the kids with separate mattresses on the floor. Their feedback is that they have preferred an actual bed! The Dome itself has everything you would need in terms of working toilet/hot shower, AC/heating, electricity, lighting, power points etc. It is much closer to a hotel room than Glamping. It is quite well used with some cracks in the flooring but only to be expected given the environment. The only improvement I would look for would be if the AC/heating system could be quieter as that took a little away from the remote experience. One night we were there it got down to near freezing temperatures and it was just about warm enough, but not sure what it would be like if it got even colder.
In terms of the resort, they have done a great job with activities with a Bounce mat, kids playground, corn hole and live entertainment each night with free smores by the fire pit which we loved. There is also a food truck tent which we had breakfast and dinner at both days where the food was pretty good, decent choice and reasonable priced.
Have to of course mention the clear sky at night - not sure I have seen so many stars and that was amazing - I tried some night sky photos for the first time after being inspired by what we were seeing.
Overall a great experience that we won't forget - think 2 nights was the right amount of time to stay as it was nice to get to a more normal room for the next leg of our trip.

I’ll be coming again and bringing the rest of my family. The dome was very comfy, I loved the ladder to get to the other beds, the pillows were like clouds. The star gazing tour was amazing, I almost cried every time I gazed into the moon or planet.
