When visitors come to Yosemite National Park they often either stay at the Ahwahnee Hotel or they will stop by and visit. Why? The Ahwahnee is a luxurious hotel, opened in 1927, which has provided every urban comfort in a rugged Sierra mountain niche.
Yosemite Miwok woven cooking baskets, linguistic symbols, and decorative patterns have been used throughout the Ahwahnee's rooms and halls. These have become its trademark, making this hotel one of a kind --- and just the thing to get you in the Yosemite mood!
From the first year of that, it was established the Ahwahnee has hosted the Bracebridge Dinner. This annual event turns this rustic hotel into a 17th Century manor with all the trimmings. The inspiration for this ceremony was Washington Irving's Sketch Book that described Squire Bracebridge and English Christmas traditions of that period. Each year the Bracebridge Dinner is sold out to folks coming for something out of the ordinary, a holiday celebration --- a new tradition.
The Bracebridge Dinner includes a feast of food, song, and mirth. The dinner menu features foods of Yore: Relish, Soup, Fish, Peacock Pie, Baron of Beef and Boars Head, Salad and of course, Pudding and Wassail. A 2 CD Set, "Christmas in Yosemite - The Bracebridge Dinner and Music of the Christmas Season" is available for purchase and portraits are also offered to make this “dinner” the most memorable one yet!
Package deals are available for the Bracebridge Dinner and accommodations at the Ahwahnee Hotel. Make your reservations 10-12 months in advance as this is popular and always sold out dinner.
