Orca Island Cabins, exclusively situated at Humpy Cove on Resurrection Bay, is just 9 miles from Seward, Alaska. Orca Island Cabins provides guests with a memorable glamping experience near Kenai Fjords National Park in a unique and beautiful setting. The seasonal accommodations (May-September) include eight stylish yurt cabins on the island which will give guests total comfort in an intimate and private setting. The yurt cabins sleep up to four people and feature a queen bed, futon, all linens, living & dining areas, kitchen with sink & range, dishes, basic cookware, and a private bathroom with compost toilet and shower. The yurts are surely eco-friendly with solar power for electricity and propane for hot water, heat, and the kitchen range. A barbeque grill is located on the large private deck of each yurt. Guests can take in the amazing scenery and wildlife as they relax on their private deck. Note: though the yurts do not include a fridge/freezer, ice chests are available in each yurt for food storage.
Guests staying at Orca Island Cabins begin their adventure in Seward, Alaska, at the Small Boat Harbor. Included in the rate is the water taxi ride to/from the Orca Island Cabins. Since there are no dining options at the Orca Island Cabins, guests will need to bring their own food. Food, beverages, and ice can be purchased in Seward and then will be transferred to ice chests on the boat and then to the guest's cabins upon arrival at the island (an ice chest is available in each cabin). The water taxi departs at Seward at 1 pm (subject to change) and guests are treated to a one-hour wildlife cruise on their way to Orca Island Cabins. On the day of return, the water taxi departs Orca Island Cabins at 10 am (subject to change) and arrives back at Seward after a one-hour ride in Resurrection Bay.
Once at Orca Island Cabins, guests can engage in plentiful exciting activities. The thrilling activities include kayaking (unlimited use of single & double kayaks available), hiking trails nearby, fishing (complimentary fishing gear available), stand-up paddleboarding (wet suits available), use of rowing skiffs, and tide-pool exploring. And, to be sure, there are ample bird & wildlife viewing opportunities (binoculars available). Also, residing on the property is the island's art gallery which is open 24 hours a day for guests to gaze at original oil paintings, select pieces of jewelry, and other locally crafted items. The gallery features a cozy fireplace and a spacious deck with ocean views. For those wanting a campfire, firewood is provided for the outdoor fire puts on the property.
Though guests can stay for only one night if they wish, two or three nights is highly recommended to have a complete experience at Orca Island Cabins. Stays of two or more nights receive a lower nightly rate. Please note that children under the age of 12 are not allowed on the island. Rates are based on double occupancy with the 3rd and 4th guests being an additional $235 per guest per night.
