The Kantishna Roadhouse Backcountry Resort is located 90 miles deep inside the heart of Denali National Park in the historic gold mining district of Kantishna. The seasonal accommodation is open from early June to early September and is home to 33 comfortable cabins featuring private bathrooms and front porches. A two-night minimum is required for all reservations. Rates are all-inclusive and include private bus transportation to and from the Roadhouse (190 miles round trip), deluxe log cabin lodging, hot meals and snacks, daily activities, hiking opportunities, and naturalist programs. Since the Kantishna Roadhouse is not accessible by private vehicles, transportation is provided from the Denali Park Train Depot at 12:30 pm daily and arrives at the Roadhouse at 7:45 pm. On the day of return, the bus departs the Roadhouse at 6:20 am and arrives at the Denali Park Train Depot at 11:30 am. Baggage limits apply.
When guests arrive at the Kantishna Roadhouse after an exhilarating bus ride through the National Park, they are greeted with spacious grounds, the beautiful log Roadhouse building, and log cabins. The Roadhouse building is the central hub for activities, meals, and general relaxation. The main Roadhouse contains two dining areas with large windows and fireplaces, full-service saloon (alcohol and wine available for purchase), gift shop, and a second-floor Alaskan library and outdoor screen porch. In the main Roadhouse, there is also an activity desk where the staff is eager to assist with the guided hikes and activities that are available daily. Activities are plentiful at the Kantishna Roadhouse. Activities include guided hiking (good hiking boots advised), the Wonder Lake shuttle to view the Denali, cultural presentations which are uniquely Alaskan, the Fannie Quigley Cabin tour, daily presentations every evening by a naturalist speaker, mountain biking (bikes, helmets, daypacks, and water bottles provided), gold panning, and fly fishing (fishing supplies provided with additional items available for purchase). Activities that are available for purchase include a therapeutic massage and flightseeing tours. If people want to get completely "off the grid" with no radios, televisions, cell phone coverage, and internet access, and at the same time, experience the beauty and wonder of Denali National Park, then the Kantishna Roadhouse is the perfect option for a Denali vacation.
