It takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to transit between the two districts depending on route and traffic.

Saguaro National Park is located in the Sonoran Desert and true to any desert weather, it fluctuates greatly throughout the year. Summers can be extremely hot with daytime temperatures exceeding 100 degrees in the shade and evening lows averaging 72 degrees. However, monsoon storms can frequent the park during summer from July to September bringing surges of wet, tropical air and frequent but localized thunderstorms. Winter in the park is pleasant with mild, warm days averaging 65 degrees and cool evenings averaging 40 degrees.

Q:Are all roads within the park paved?
A:
No. The Loop Road in the Rincon Mountain District (East) is a paved, 8-mile drive, however, the Scenic Bajada Loop Drive in the Tucson Mountain District (West) in an unpaved, two-way graded dirt road. High clearance or four-wheel drive is not needed to drive the loop. Trailers longer than 35 feet or any vehicle wider than 8 feet are not permitted on either road.
