Saratoga Spa State Park - New York

Located in the city of Saratoga Springs, New York Saratoga Spa State Park is an oasis of relaxation and healing in the forest of upstate New York. Read more...

The park famously hosts the only active geysers east of the Mississippi River in the United States. The park is famous for its mineral springs. Mineral and salt-rich carbonated water is pushed up through cracks in the 60 miles long Saratoga Fault and has been used for over a century for healing wounded soldiers, Holocaust survivors, and travelers who come for a rejuvenating soak.

The park area has been continuously protected since the early 1900’s and was officially made into a state park in 1962. Visitors come to the park to recreate, and a host of activities are available. Golf and tennis enthusiasts are delighted with world-class facilities. Nature enthusiasts can hike, bike, walk, fish, picnic, and take a nature tour from the state parks service. There are additional winter sports facilities such as an ice rink and snowshoe trails. The park is the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet. The SPAC Amphitheatre hosts summer concerts and is built into a natural bowl surrounded by large pine trees.
