Lake Berryessa - California

Set in the manzanita and oak covered hill country of northern California is one of the region’s most compelling natural resources: Lake Berryessa. Read more...

Just a short drive from wine country and a two-hour drive from San Francisco, Lake Berryessa provides water, electricity, and abundant recreational opportunities to Northern California’s residents and visitors alike. The lake was created in 1958 when construction on the Monticello dam was completed.

Visitors to Lake Berryessa will find 165 miles of shoreline to hike, bike, camp, and fish along. Boaters will revel in the lake’s 15 miles by 3 miles of open water for skiing, jet skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and fishing. The lake does fluctuate in height along with local rainfall, so call ahead to one of the many marinas to check conditions and get a fishing report. Visitors staying at the lake will enjoy its convenient location and can also take day trips into wine country for a bike tour, winery tour, and wine tasting. Fisherman pursues world-class largemouth bass fishing including catfish, crappie, bluegill, brown trout, rainbow trout, chinook salmon, and pikeminnows.
