Notes: Joshua Tree National Park is located in the southeastern part of California. This park was declared in 1994 up until then it was a national monument. Joshua Tree NP is named after the trees that grow in this area. Joshua trees also know as Yucca Brevifolia make the landscape somewhat otherworldly. Joshua Tree NP offers many forms of experiences for the hole family or individual. From sightseeing, mountain biking, rock-climbing, bird watching, nature trails that are self guided or guided to staring at the stars. Many people hike in to one of the 9 camping sites spend the night and then hike back out. Just remember that your are in a desert environment you should have water on you at all times.

Pets are not allowed on hiking trails, park buildings, or in the backcountry. Pets are permitted within 100 feet (30.5 meters) of roads, campgrounds, and picnic areas. Keep in mind that rattlesnakes, sharp rocks, and cactus spines may harm your pet. Predators such as mountain lions and coyotes are in the area as well, keep your pet close. You can not leave your pet unattended or tied up to an object. Pets must be on a leash no longer than six feet (1.8 meters) at all times. Owners must clean up after their pets.
