Find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about the St. Mary Village.
Q:Is Saint Mary Lodge and Resort inside the park?
A:No it is not. Saint Mary Lodge and Resort is located just outside of the park in St. Mary, Montana, but it is situated in a prime location at the intersection of U.S. Highway 89 and the Going-to-the-Sun Road. This intersection marks the east entrance into the park and the Going-to-the-Sun Road, making it a desirable location for travelers.
Q:How can I get to the lodge from the Amtrak station?
A:There is a shuttle service available for a small fee via the East Side Shuttle. The shuttle transports guests to and from the Amtrak Station in East Glacier to Saint Mary Lodge and Resort. From there guests can access the National Park Service Shuttle, which is free for park visitors. The East Side Shuttle only runs every couple of hours until noon and reservations are recommended. If your train arrives later in the afternoon or evening it is recommended to stay a night in the Glacier Park Lodge and take the shuttle in the morning to Saint Mary. Otherwise if you prefer to travel on your own time, you can rent a car in East Glacier.
Q:How far is the Prince of Wales Hotel from Saint Mary?
A:The Prince of Wales Hotel is located in Canada, roughly an hour and a half drive from the Saint Mary Lodge and Resort. Be sure to bring your passport if you plan to travel into Canada.
