Shenandoah National Park is located in northwestern Virginia, northwest of Charlottesville, Virginia. The Park is approximately 75 miles west of Washington, DC.  The park lies astride a beautiful section of the Blue Ridge, which forms the eastern rampart of the Appalachian Mountains between Pennsylvania and Georgia. In the valley to the west is the Shenandoah River. This wonderful, wild location makes for great Shenandoah vacation opportunities.

Skyline Drive runs 105 miles north and south along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the park. This is the only public road through the park. It takes about three hours to travel the entire length of the park on a clear day. On the drive, you will experience splendid views.

June’s spectacular display of azaleas, cardinal flower, black-eyed Susans, and goldenrod keep the color coming right into fall which is the season that park is most popular for! If you look out you may also see deer, black bear, wild turkey, and a host of other woodland animals call Shenandoah home and regularly cross Skyline Drive in their daily travels.
