We stayed here while visiting my son who was living nearby while in the Navy. Amazing property, so many things to do and see right on site, such a relaxing place. Hotel was beautiful and conveniently located!

I have no complaints. The room was very cute, cozy, and clean. We really felt that the price and value were right on. It was nice without being stuffy, and the service was great. We had a wonderful time at the spa, and it was easy to arrange transportation to and from town!

Hubby and I had made reservations through HomeMade Theater on the adjacent State Park grounds for dinner before the show. Although snow and ice were everywhere, parking lots and sidewalks were nicely cleaned and salted. Our dining area was in a side room off the Putnam Restaurant and our choices were the same as being offered in the dining room itself. Passing through the wood paneled tavern, our area was sunny and bright but needed some serious updating! I had an absolutely succulent flat iron steak cooked to perfection with bacon and cheese smashed potatoes while hubby had salmon with pomme frites which he, too, enjoyed thoroughly. Our Caesar Salad was served as we requested with dressing off to the side. When it came to dessert I had overheard another server offer a choice of blueberry or apple pie. Our server brought an apple slice and a blueberry slice but we both wanted blueberry. (Curious why he didn't ask what we would like?!?) Our decaf coffee was served cold and even when we requested a hot cup of joe, the best he could do was lukewarm and he never brought sugar until we had actually received the bill! Wondering if we had had better service, would we have enjoyed the experience more?!?! Next time, we will definitely dine in the city proper before attending a show or SPAC!

This hotel was okay, our room (a suite) was pretty beat up and the walls were paper thin. Booking over the phone was horrible. I would recommend booking via a 3rd party app in this case - I had to make changes to our reservation and had to call 3 times and spoke to 3 different people - all were equally bad. The water pressure in our bathroom sink was barely a trickle, but the toilet and shower worked. Cleanliness was okay at best. The shuttle drivers were awesome though, and the restaurant serves delicious complimentary house-made chips and dip.

We stayed here while traveling to see possible wedding venues in the Adirondacks. We decided this was the best place!

My wife and I had decided to host our wedding in the Adirondack area in 2009. Neither of us had spent much time in Saratoga Springs area but decided for our quest, we would begin in Saratoga Springs (staying at the Gideon) and drive through the Adirondack park visiting possible wedding locations. At the end of the journey, we both agreed we loved the Gideon most and it would be perfect for our wedding. For the next 6 months we traveled to Saratoga and stayed at the Gideon 5 or 6 more times to finish planning and enjoy the area. The wedding was perfection! The venue staff and chef left our guests to this day, still complimenting how perfect everything was. A deep love of the town and the hotel formed within us both and we have spent many nights at the Gideon while visiting the area over the past decade.
