Like a visit to a very wealthy grandmother
Birthday visit in March. Warm welcome by Christian at early check-in at reception, who upgraded us to a junior suite-1/2 bedroom, 1/2 living room, plus lovely, old fashioned bathroom. It was a bit like visiting a very wealthy grandmother. (FDR stayed here). View was of park. Between off-season & Coronavirus scare, hotel was nearly empty. Sad, as a grand hotel like this should be bustling. Dog friendly, nice buffet breakfast included. We will go back!

Wonderful experience started with Stephanie at check in. After promptly checking us in early at 12:30 she suggested Scallions Restaurant for a great lunch. We booked the Romance package and upgraded to a Junior Suite. Great room, 329, nice view, quiet, very comfy bed, heater worked nicely. Dinner was included in the hotel and it was very good. Complimentary breakfast was better than most. We enjoyed the spa, car museum, casino, another lunch at Eddy F,s- great seafood. Very relaxing weekend, beautiful surroundings. Hope to return.

We wanted to be there , but no one else did
We enjoyed the Gideon Putnam, but wish there were more hotel amenities on site. An indoor pool would have been great. We arrived late on a Friday and wanted to have a late dinner in the hotel restaurant. The dinner and food was fine , but the staff seemed like they wanted to go home and were not very welcoming.

Great dog friendly place
I just spent 2 nights at the historic Gideon Putnam hotel. We took both dogs, as they are dog friendly, and honestly super accommodating. Nearly all other visitors with dogs were very responsible. Rooms are pretty spaciousness for the age of the hotel and even though it's winter there were still lots of places to walk in the Saratoga springs state park that is attached. We will go back in warmer weather for sure.

exceptional location, service, and hospitality of the staff
It was my 3 time in this hotel and every time I fell in love with the place more and more. Front desk guest service, Stephanie was very helpful, nice, friendly and did her best to satisfy my request. The hotel has its style and old-fashion classy environment. The SPA was also excellent. The only little flaw was one SPA guest service staff, Jaclinne, who is a leader and trained a new employer. However, she definitely needs to be trained on how to respect the guests and be more considering - she was very loud and careless in a lounge room when people tried to relax. But it was a trifle compared to the general impression.
