PSA DO NOT STAY AT ECONO LODGE IN RC SD!!! 03/29/25 My kids and I, my friend and her kids just had a horrible experience!! For starters my friend purchased a room for the night and nothing was working properly in there so she asked for a new room and of course she had to the pay the difference which is fine. Well my kids and I went to visit her and her kids today and decided to all swim together. I informed the front desk the key card for the door wasn’t working properly and asked for a new one for her. The woman told me to hold on and got another staff member which I’m assuming was her husband. He came out and was extremely rude right off the jump. He told me we are not allowed to be there unless we’re paying guests, and that my friend who is a paying guest is not allowed to have any guests over and they are also not allowed to use the pool. Which is understandable and we tried to apologize because we didn’t know of this rule ahead of time because most hotels in rapid let family/friends come and swim when one person is already paying for the room. He became irate and pointed in my face saying we knew the rules and me and my kids needed to get out now and leave immediately. I said okay well we need to change so we can leave. He told me we were not allowed to retrieve our items from our friends room and to just leave immediately. I told him my kids are not walking outside in the cold weather in wet clothes! He informed me they would give me a new clean room to change in but I could not use my friends room which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He then pointed at my friend and said since she broke the rules she and her kids needed to leave immediately as well, while making comments that her room is a mess, even tho they just upgraded from their previous room this morning! Her room was not a mess! My friends went to grab our items from her room and he came up and said well just go change in her room then leave. I have never in my life had anyone ever treated me this way at a business and especially with children present. This whole situation was uncalled for and my friend and I were being polite and calm the entire interaction, the manager as he called himself was rude, irate, and aggressive. I am just floored by the lack of costumer service, professionalism and empathy as a person. I am truly disgusted with Econo Lodge hotel and management in rapid city SD!!!! Save your money and sanity, stay somewhere else!!

This is by far the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The room smelt dusty and dirty. It was the loudest hotel I’ve even been in. There were these guys drinking outside when we got there to check in, and they would not stop staring at me and my girls. Just didn’t feel exactly safe. There were beetle bugs everywhere now and then. The towels were super worn out and dirty. There was literally a clump of hair on the bed when removed the top blanket. I DO NOT recommend this place at all!!!

Do not book this hotel. The walls were all scratched up, missing paint, and had obvious water damage. The mattress was hard and when I pulled the sheet back I found several long dark hairs in the bed and stains on the sheets. The air conditioner was filthy inside and made the room smell like urine when turned on. The bathroom sink was dirty and there was something smeared on the wall. Breakfast is milk, juice, yogurt, cereal, and muffins. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. As a Choice member, I must say this is not a good choice.

The hotel smelled horrendous, mold, I think. The main light for the drive up was flickering. A window to a room on the main floor was open with no screen on it. There was a sharp downspout which had been ripped from the building, pointing out into the sidewalk. The 2nd floor window in the stairwell, where my room (202) was located, was open with no screen in place. This is DANGEROUS! Going into room 202 the lights would not come on with the switch, I had to go in and click the lamps on one by one. The beds were made, but did not look clean. Stained sheets, crumb type items on one bed. I washed my hands in the sink, feeling disgusting, and the water would not go down. I proceeded to the front desk to ask for a refund (they told me Expedia have to do that?) and explained my concerns. I handed him the keys and am now sleeping in my truck. Follow-up: Since I booked through Expedia, the hotel told me they would not give me a refund, and I would need to go through Expedia. Expedia got in contact with the hotel, and the "Manager" flat out lied, and said we did not give them the keys back (which we did less than 5 minutes after checking in), and said we never complained, or they would have refunded me. Expedia is siding with the hotel "manager" on this and will not give me a refund. To say I am EXTREMELY displeased is an understatement.

This hotel should be closed. It is a fleabag hotel. Was it clean falling apart. Making a reservation was absolutely disgusting. I was transferred to someone who doesn’t know how to speak. English had to sign me up for the rewards program. Go through all those garbage I saved four dollars Lady at the front desk was kind no problems there. Paul was really cool with a slide, but that’s whatever. The whole place looks like it’s about ready to be shut down. I will not stay here again.
