I was in need of a hotel late last night. The owner Larry and his wife were so helpful not only getting me a room right away but by far THE BEST ROOM I HAVE EVER STAYED IN! It was absolutely gorgeous!!! All the wood furniture is handmade by Larry himself. The cozy log cabin feeling made me want to move in permanently. The decor is done so well! If you only have a short time to visit the state of Montana and want to experience what it’s really like to live here. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!!! I usually don’t write reviews but my time spent here was so unbelievably pleasant that I wanted to take the time to share with anyone looking for a real gem. I’m telling you this place is the real deal! For a great price! They far exceeded my expectations. And the best part was the homemade breakfast. I overslept the regular breakfast hours but they were so gracious and welcoming they made an entire homemade buffet spread just for me! I felt like a king, truly! I cannot wait to book my next stay at Great Bear Inn! THE ABSOLUTE BEST PLACE AROUND! If you’re looking to escape the busy, loud, chaos of everyday life. Look no further. Pure tranquility and happiness awaits you and your companions.

This was my husband and I first vacation since being married over 3 years, we decided to go to Montana and see the parks from Ohio! To start off our trip was a disaster from the airport to the rental to the first place we stayed... We booked what we thought was a nice hotel to relax and have privacy turns out there was none of that and right off the main freeway loud!!!! Because of us going in August it was still prime tourist season meaning last minute bookings for a nice place to stay was impossible until we found the great bear inn!!!! This was the 15th place we looked at that day trying to find something nice and not a million dollars so i stayed in the car, i was devastated. My husband went in and explained how everything was going and the owners were sooooo thoughtful and nice and let us know they had a cancelation and had the nights we needed to stay! The breakfast was AMAZING, rooms and cabins were amazing, everything was clean and beautiful! We went hiking the one night and they supplied the bug spray and bear spray which was awesome! Everything was PERFECT and we plan on coming back and staying a few days there again in May or June 2021! Once again this place and their owners are amazing and you will not be disappointed, it went above and beyond expectations and we recommend everyone we know who wants to go to Montana to stay here! Thank you for saving our trip and making it an amazing vacation!

There are not enough positive words for The Great Bear Inn! We stayed here October 6-9, 2020. We had the most wonderful time and experience! The area and location are beyond exceptional, the food is wonderful, and the rooms are amazing. Short, easy drive to the gates of Glacier National Park. The scenery is absolutely breath-taking and the owners Bunny and Larry are just incredible. They are friendly, inviting, and very very kind. Not to mention they are phenomenal cooks and could easily rally against any restaurants! Absolutely wonderful place, even better people, and would highly recommend and will be returning one day! This trip was the first time we tried any bed and breakfasts and it has made us never want to stay in a hotel again if we can help it!

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend while we were visiting Glacier National Park. We stayed in one of the two cabins and absolutely loved it! We were greeted to a sign on the front porch personally welcoming us. The cabin was big for us-we didn’t even go upstairs-but we loved the privacy. We sat on the porch each evening enjoying the beauty and the silence. The kitchen was well equipped and allowed us to eat in-which is important because there is not much outside of Glacier. Glacier National Park only 5 miles away. Super convenient. The innkeepers were so pleasant and the breakfast they made each morning was delicious-my personal favorite was the monkey bread! Lots of choices-fruit, eggs, meat, pastries, and bread. Another bonus was the washer and dryer! Others have written about the train noise-the train does pass by but didn’t bother us at all. Highly recommend!!

Nature, amazing views and those pancakes!

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, my husband and I decided a road trip was the safest way to travel and beautiful West Glacier called our name. After searching for a private setting immersed in nature and close to West Glacier National park (the inn is an easy drive to Glacier park, only 7 miles from park entrance) I came across the Great Bear Inn. The name doesn’t even do this amazing B&B justice. It should be renamed to The Phenomenal Great Bear Inn! We used our Waze app to route us to The Great Bear and we came through Columbia Falls to a winding road that took us over the Whitefish river (we even spent time during late afternoons exploring the river area since it was so close to the inn (less than a half mile away from the inn!) and about a mile after crossing the river we turned into the winding gravel driveway to the Great Bear Inn. The drive up to the inn was scenic. Bunny and Larry have even created a gnome area complete with a gnome zip line! We arrived to take in breathtaking views and the B&B nestled between mountains and trees. There are two separate cabins on the property you can rent outside of the in. Ample parking and views that last for days. We stayed in a room on the second floor in the inn. The entire complex is well maintained, there are gardens that supply produce for the breakfast table, wild huckleberry’s are picked to make amazing Huckleberry pancakes every morning, and our entire breakfast each day was cooked fresh soon as we walked into the breakfast area. Breakfast tasted amazing each of the 4 days we were there. The beds are comfortable, rooms are clean and comfortable and we found nothing but welcoming relaxing comfort. Larry and Bunny are friendly, full of knowledge and recommendations on what to do and see and we spent many a fun morning chatting with them about our lives and current topics. Hands down this hidden gem is 5 star and we will be back fall of 2021! Where else can you go and find a sad faced pancake from your hosts on your last day staying with them, showing they didn’t want us to leave!
