The hotel is located on a hill just outside Bar Harbor which allows for excellent views of Frenchman bay. We appreciated that it was somewhat out-of-the way and quiet, although the walk to downtown is sort of long (15-30 min on foot). The room was very clean but the bed and furnishing were a bit outdated. Staff was helpful and polite as well. This hotel is a great choice if you are planning a trip to Acadia national park, although it is not the most up-to-date in terms of amenities and decoration.

Great place with a view
We stayed here in August 2021. The hotel was very clean. The decor was a little outdated but had charm. The location is great. It is within walking distance to downtown and far enough away from downtown to avoid noise and traffic. Our room had a waterview which was great. I did wish the chairs were higher so we can see over railing. It was so nice to sit outside and have coffee. The rooms use aa actual key instead of electronic key system. It was quite a throwback for us. We were always concerned about losing key or forgetting it. It was comical. The restaurant there was only open for breakfast at that time. The view from the restaurant was amazing. Worth the walk up the hill

Another AAA fiasco. No communication from hotel.
No services I want on my vacation. I came a long distance at the recommendation of AAA. NO restaurant? They are asking you to do to go orders for breakfast. What happens is that I would have cancelled my reservation and never have come to Bar Harbor. That is exactly the fact that AAA doesn't tell you because they lose commissions. Hotel won't tell you because they will loose the sale. They can have other people waiting for a room. I am trapped, and there is nothing I can do. If I had my own car, I would be gone. No communication from hotel, staff, management and AAA. I can do better, and will not be properties that meet my expectations.

214. Beautiful view! We were bummed we couldn’t sit at the outdoor firepit, but the awesome piano player made up for that.
The blueberry autumn martini was delicious! The hot tub felt great but was too hot for my friend. Plenty of parking and cool balcony in front of rooms. It was my first time in New England and it was wicked gorgeous.

Excellent Hotel If You Have a Room Facing The Ocean
Very nice hotel. Furniture and furnishings are flowery English. Rooms facing the ocean on the 3rd and 4th floors in the main building are best and have a terrific view. That's why we stayed there. Rooms and the public areas are spotless.
