First getting in/out of Bar Harbor is crazy! Main road in is down to one lane with a detour for getting out. Looks like an all summer project. Front desk helpful by providing directions for getting around. Hotel staff friendly, hotel is clean.

Great location on the edge of town with a beautiful view of the ocean and islands. Large, clean, well appointed rooms with balconies, a very nice indoor pool with steam room. Friendly staff made our stay comfortable. Included a free continental breakfast or an on site restaurant called The Looking Glass that is supposedly the highest dinning point in town. Another great view of the ocean and just below the restaurant is a grassy area where a herd of white tail deer come to feed at sunset. I could have rated the facilities higher but it was very early in the season and the area was not quite up to summer speed.

Perfect spring getaway!

Located on a hill overlooking the village, harbor, and surrounding islands, the Bluenose is a comfortable, well-managed, and conveniently located base for exploring Mt. Desert Island. It would be a good choice for traveling with a large or extended family who would enjoy socializing in the well-appointed great room, with its expansive views of the harbor, ample sofas and arm chairs, and a pianist on the weekends. The rooms are spacious, ours included a fireplace, which was especially cozy after a long day of tramping around Acadia in the spring chill. They offer a substantial continental breakfast that goes beyond cereal, bagels, and danish to include bacon, eggs, and other hot dishes. Several touches made this especially memorable for my kids, including a freshly baked plate of cookies and overflowing bowl of Andes mints available throughout the day in the lobby (along with coffee and tea at all hours). The pool house is lovely, the pool and hot tub appeared clean and well-maintained, and the gym is small, but functional. It's a 15-minute walk to the downtown restaurants, allowing you to avoid the traffic during the summer months (though I would discourage you from going to Bar Harbor then anyway), or you can opt for a meal at the adjacent Looking Glass restaurant. This was a great deal for a shoulder-season weekend.

We stayed here one night on our road trip. We didn't get in until very late and left very early the next morning. The room was clean and a nice. We wish we would have scheduled more time in Bar Harbor. I will definitely be back and will stay here again.

We visited the 3rd week in October and had a beautiful view from the room and balcony over the Bay and islands. The room was very nice with plenty of space and a nice fireplace. We are hikers walkers and had no issues walking to town to eat or stroll the shops and museum. The paths were lovely across the street from the hotel around the college. We also enjoyed the hot tub in the pool house.
