Zephyr Cove communication with us was very poor. We arrived after dark at 6:30 pm on November 3. The registration desk was closed even though it was supposed to be open until 8pm. Everything was dark and locked up. The only phone number displayed on the wall connected us with a young security staffer who told us our key was in an envelope on a bulletin board facing the campground. After searching for the bulletin board in the dark for 15 minutes, we finally found it but our envelope wasn't on the bulletin board. I called the security number again and the staffer had to go to the main office and look for our reservation. 10 minutes later he called back; they had spelled our last name wrong (it's only four letters!) and had forgotten to post it on the bulletin board. It took us over 30 minutes in the dark in 30-degree temperature to finally get into our cabin, which was a different number than the cabin we'd been told it would be in an email. We were so frustrated we almost drove back home. Aside from all this, the cabin was warm and the bed comfortable, so our fuming eventually dissipated. We won't be staying at Zephyr Cove again, however, and we won't be recommending it to anyone.

Not what was on the website. Selected cabin number because it had a king and a walk in shower. Cabin did not have a walk in shower. Built in heater did not work, small gas fireplace, slow to heat up front room and kitchen area.had to use electric stove to help. Bathroom toilet leaked, and one burner on stove was out. Told front office and those three things were fixed. Found mold on the shower curtain. They were not prepared. My wife and I have visited the facility7 times. They did give us a discount. Will not stay a a government facility again . Juan was superb. Guy at front desk next day was a dork.

I have mixed feelings on this place. We had a small cabin #20 (Queen bed, tiny bathroom) and it was pricey! It was clean but carpet was very stained. There is no air conditioning but Tahoe tends to cool down at night. There was a small bedside stand on only one side of the bed and the lamp on it did not work. There was a small very dusty ceiling fan. I thought the bed was very comfortable. We were on a bicycle tour and this resort has no where to eat in the evening. The front desk, restaurant, and store were also not open when we left in the morning. The cabin did have windows on 3 sides that let some light in. The cabin also had a small microwave, old small fridge, and a coffee maker. The outside area has many large pines, dirt, and very dirty tables (we wanted to play cards but way too much bird poop on the tables) and some grills for charcoal. It is a very short walk to a crowded beach with beach toy rentals and the MS Dixie (Paddle Wheel boat, tours, $) It was OK, but not nice enough for the cost. Would not stay there again.

I'll admit, I was a little hesistant to book here after reading all the other reviews, but a couple people in an RV forum I follow raved about this place. I had a choice to make... tripadvisor, or the other anonymous internet people who has so far not let me down on a recommendation. I went with the forum suggestion and booked this place. I am SO GLAD I DID. Checking in across the street was SUPER easy and all of the staff was SUPER friendly, so I don't understand what the complaint was about checking in. You leave your trailer in the RV park, and do a 1 minute walk across the street. I did wait in line for about 15 minutes, but everybody had questions and there was only 1 guy working. No big deal. We were in site 146 and it was perfect. It was quiet, it was clean, and everybody around us was respectful of noise. I wish they banned campfires and allowed only propane pits, but, very few people were using actual firepits so that was good. I think more people are becoming conscientious of the environment (and not wanting to smell like smoke!). The only litter I noticed was a beer box in our fire pit that I'm assuming the previous occupants felt we could use for a fire, but we used our own propane pit instead so ... I'm sure the next occupants probably thought we left it for them. The bathrooms were clean, and always available, as were the showers, and they're free! It's close to Sand Harbor and the new East Shore Trail, which I HIGHLY recommend) and about 45 mins to the Eagle Falls Trail and Vikingsholm, which is closed for the season). We walked the Rubicon trail around emerald bay and came back to Zephyr Cove, got a drink at the sand bar and chillaxed. It was great. I would definitely stay there again.

We had stopped along our drive to marvel at the wondrous scenery, but every time we stopped at a beach, etc., there was an admission charge. We stumbled onto this wooded beach resort by accident because we were scoping out the restaurant for breakfast. It is a lovely beach with very nearby parking. The restaurant and hotel/resort is right there, too, which makes it even more inviting.
