The rooms, the food, the location and the staff-perfect! Plan on returning as soon as we can. The breakfast and the dining atmosphere were wonderful. The location of the Inn is perfect for feeling you are in the middle of nowhere but with all creature comforts. Our favorite place to vacation!

Absolutely the BEST place to stay to get away from these crazy times, and to get away from the high volume of tourists that crowd downtown Gatlinburg. It is truly a hidden gem smack dab in the middle of nature. We wouldnโ€™t stay anywhere else, and each time we stay there itโ€™s a whole new experience. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’

My wife and I spent a weekend at the Buckhorn Inn at least twenty-five years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. We had often talked about returning and finally made it for four nights along with two family members. We stayed in one of the guest houses and it provided the perfect family vacation. The cottage was spacious and extremely well-furnished with a full kitchen. Every room had an expansive view of Mt. Leconte. We spent hours on the porch watching the play of sunlight light change the colors of the fall leaves on the mountain. We had breakfast and dinner at the inn every day and took their bag lunches on excursions. All of the food was delicious. The big breakfasts, with hot biscuits, pastries and hearty main courses, were special treats for all of us. The inn's extensive grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The staff are dedicated to making every guest's stay a pleasure. We'll be back and I hope it's very soon.

Spectacular food exceeded by spectacular view!

We stayed in cottage 2. Beautiful, clean accomodations with a small kitchenette and a large walk in shower. We fell in love with the place immediately as our big window opposite the gas fireplace looked straight up the mountain at Mt. LeConte. The property is beautiful with a walking trail, and the breakfasts and dinners are superb. The chef is amazing. We have already booked for next year.

The fact that I am leaving anything but a stellar review for Buckhorn Inn is probably more disappointing for me than it will be for them. This place is very near and dear to our heart and will always have more good memories than anything else. We have been there 3-4 times , starting with an amazing mini honeymoon almost 14 years ago. Since then we have been back for wonderful anniversaries in addition to buying gift cards for my parents and my husband's parents because we love it that much. All that being said.... this visit was different. My parents, knowing how much we love Buckhorn, gave us a gift certificate last Christmas. We had planned on visiting last April but had to reschedule due to Covid. Fast forward to Oct. 11, 2020, a date that had been marked on our calendar in anticipation and excitement about returning to one of our favorite places. Things seemed different upon arrival. When we walked in to check in, there was very little greeting. They asked to see our gift certificate and then basically shoved a key to our room at us. The other lady that was there turned her back to us and never even acknowledged that we were there. This was polar opposite to how we have been greeted in the past. We did not let this effect our excitement about our time at Buckhorn. The room was perfect, as usual, and we could not have asked for anything better. The view was gorgeous and the Inn was everything we remembered. Day 1- Breakfast- There was a noticeable difference in how we were treated in the past. The service was lacking which is way out of the ordinary for Buckhorn. No water was offered, coffee pots passed us multiple times with not offers of refills. It was just totally different. Our room was fine, but we had a grand total of 2 towels and we were not checked on one time to see how our stay was. Day 2- Another amazing breakfast and a very sweet server who was overheard saying that it did not feel like she ever left from the day before. Interesting. We were unsure about tips for breakfast at Buckhorn (and all B&Bs) so we looked around both mornings to make sure people were not tipping. We did not want our servers to think that we did not appreciate them. No one left anything that we could see but made sure our appreciation was known even though it lacked in comparison to the past. All that being said, as we left, we were glad to have a rare weekend away. This is where things got the most interesting. My husband turned in the key and after no response from the lady at the front desk, asked if there was anything else we needed to do. Her response: "Your gift card did not cover gratuity." He and I were both embarrassed. Gratuity for breakfast? Okay, so he handed her $20. We did not eat dinner there and no one visited our room at any point. It left us feeling disappointed and embarrassed. All that being said, we have loved our times at Buckhorn but probably will not be back.
