We first discovered Buckhorn Inn during Thanksgiving week 2011. We immediately fell in love with it and decided to return several months later. As of March 2022 we have been to Buckhorn Inn 15 times. We prefer to stay in a cottage which has a bedroom, living room with fireplace, kitchenette, and outdoor porch. These are a short walk from the rustic elegance of the main inn. Breakfast alone is worth the stay at Buckhorn. The library and sitting room are pleasant areas to relax and read. The candlelight evening gourmet meals are meticulously prepared and presented. The spacious property is situated in a serene location 5 miles outside of Gatlinburg and 1 mile from the Greenbrier entrance to Smoky Mountain National Park. But the best part of the Buckhorn Inn experience is the people. The graciousness of inn owner Lee Mellor is reflected throughout all of the staff, most of whom have worked there for many years. We call them our Buckhorn Inn family. The friendships we have developed with the interesting repeat guests only enhances our visits. For the value and for the total experience, Buckhorn Inn is second to none. While we very much miss the British gentility and humor of Lee’s late husband John, we feel his presence all around Buckhorn. Lee is doing an outstanding job of carrying forth their shared vision and legacy for this remarkable B&B. As John always said, no matter what table he held the chair for a woman to sit in for breakfast; “you have the best seat in the house”.

Enjoyed a romantic prix fixe (four-course) dinner at this charming small inn tucked in the mountains. The inn was traditionally decorated with lovely views. Attentive wait staff and beautiful gardens with a labrynith to walk afterward. Reservations required.

On a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we stayed at Buckhorn Inn and loved our time there. After driving through Gatlinburg out of the park, we were so glad we were away from the hustle and bustle of town! Tracy checked us in upon our arrival and was so welcoming and full of great advice. When we made our reservations, our preferred cottage was not available so we booked premier room 3 for one night and the staff moved our things to cottage 5 the next day while we were out and about. Both accommodations were great but, honestly, we liked the convenience of the premier room better than the cottage. The cottage does have a sitting area and kitchenette but we were gone so much during the day, we didn't need it. If we return, we will just book a room in the lodge. The premier room was huge and certainly all we needed. We ate all our breakfasts there and booked 2 evening dinner reservations. Currently, the inn is booking times for breakfast and, by the time, we arrived the only breakfast available for the next day was later than we would have preferred. I understand the breakfast reservation system is a relatively new practice and we had not been informed until our arrival. If you like to get out early like we do, I suggest you ask about breakfast reservations when you book your stay. We ate dinner at the inn upon our arrival and enjoyed the food and the service by Lee and her staff. After seeing how crazy town was, we decided to book another dinner reservation for the evening before we departed. The only minor criticism I can add is their attention to my gluten free husband. They did accommodate his diet but we have been at other B&B's that went beyond Buckhorn. The grounds of Buckhorn are beautiful and we wish we had more time to experience all they had to offer. Many sitting areas and paths to walk and just enjoy the surroundings. All in all, we loved Buckhorn and would not hesitate to stay there again. Takes about 25 minutes to get there from the entrance to the park but well worth it!

Although we had a quick visit, we plan to come back again when we can spend several days and take advantage of all this place has to offer. For an Inn I was a bit worried about noise from other guests. We didn't hear a thing all night and slept well1
