Two stars instead of one just for having a room available, because I’m fair. We made the mistake of not booking a place to sleep outside Yosemite ahead of time, and got stuck desperately looking for something cheap at 10pm. By cheap, I mean $140 a night, because it’s Yosemite. We were grateful to find the Comfort Inn, but take it from someone who never complains: the room was FILTHY. Being dated is one thing... but this room had simply not been cleaned. There were used shampoo bottles in the tub, wet towels hanging on the bathroom door, and a disgusting damp washcloth left hanging on the shower had an actual literal poop stain on it. Which was understandable I guess after seeing the poop stains in the toilet. The shower head sprayed directly at the wall and couldn’t be adjusted. There were so many hairs in the bed sheets that we could only laugh at how ridiculous it was. The room smelled like stale smoke so badly — and I’m a SMOKER (though never indoors!) so normally wouldn’t notice or be bothered by it. We got up early to grab the “grab and go” breakfast and coffee but they just never bothered to serve any. I went to checkout and the clerk was on the phone, so I simply put my key on the counter and slid it toward her and mouthed a “thank you” and she put a finger up in an irritated way like “hold on” but proceeded to talk another 3-4 minutes so I just turned and left. When making plans for Yosemite accommodations at a time when the park campgrounds are mostly closed for Covid, keep in mind that these rundown hotels can charge us whatever they want because we have no other choices, so either plan well in advance or hand over the $140 for a poop-stained night and suck it up.

Great trip!

My husband and I made it out to Yosemite during the peak of the pandemic, and the staff did a good job of making sure we felt safe and comfortable even during difficult circumstances. The room was neat, the front desk staff was knowledgeable about what was open and not, and where we could find patio seating for dining. This was a good break for us- though its closer to the Mariposa Grove side of Yosemite than the Tuolomne Meadows side. Please budget time accordingly if Yosemite is your main destination.

Overall this is a clean and quiet hotel with plenty of places nearby. Plenty of restaurants and shops. Hotel was near everything. Hotel breakfast had a good selection of just about anything for everyone. I didn’t like the fact that there were signs posted you couldn’t pack a lunch. Most people will probably get a piece of fruit or muffin to go but to go to that extreme was a bit much I think. If in the area it is ok to stay here. Probably would stay here again since it was only a one night stay on our way to Yosemite. Check in clerk had a great attitude and was very attentive.
