Will return. They give exceptional attention to their guests. Great breakfast, great beds, lovely house. Wonderful town with lots to see. Brandon helped us plan our day. Anna made sure we had all we needed for an impromptu stay.

Would highly recommend for future travels. The restaurants in town were an easy walk and the local food and beer were amazing.

They are careful about cross contamination. Breakfast was a frittata and fruit one day and a quiche the other day. I addition they made gluten free muffins, cookies, strawberry bread and whoopie pie. And they saved the extra goodies for "midnight snacks". I loved visiting with the staff, especially Anna. She was so welcoming. I hope to return someday. But I live on the other side of the country. When I stayed at the Primrose I could truly relax and not worry about what I was going to eat. It was amazing.

A wonderfully relaxing stay!

The well-maintained, gorgeously decorated inn harkens back to the elegant days of old Bar Harbor, but with modern comfort and convenience. Breakfasts were amazing! Coffee, supplied by a local roaster, is available before breakfast. Each morning we were offered a sweet and savory breakfast option along with fresh fruit and juice. After a day of hiking in Acadia, it was so nice to come back to afternoon refreshments. One day they served chocolate mousse- amazing! A beautiful wrap around porch with rockers and a cozy living room with a fire place and a bookshelf of travel guides and local interest books are comfortable spaces to relax. Our room had a spacious in-room sitting area, a jacuzzi bath and a small private porch.

Charming Stay with a Few Bumps

That said, our experience was affected by a persistent issue in our room. Every time the guests above us used water—whether at the sink, toilet, or in the shower—the pipes let out an alarming, high-pitched screech and shake that sounded like they were about to rip through the wall. Unfortunately, the head of my bed was positioned directly against the loudest spot, and the noise jolted me awake multiple times during the night. It genuinely impacted my ability to get a restful night’s sleep.
If you’re a light sleeper, I’d recommend asking for a different room (16)—hopefully one that’s not beneath a bathroom. Otherwise, this inn has a lot of charm and hospitality to offer.
