Our visit to Sand Bar Cottage this year was as amazing as last year. The Innkeeper Chris remembered us and was as kind and welcoming as we remember. We brought our nephew and his girlfriend with us and they had the most amazing time. Chris recommended a trip to the Common Ground Fair for which we are so grateful. That day was beautiful and the fair was so fun and interesting. We did have some rainy days and again Chris came through with a suggestion to a great nearby car museum. Going through the National Park in the rain was surprisingly wonderful, everything looked so clean and shiny. Rain or shine, Sand Bar is truly our happy place. The breakfasts were amazing, our rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The new stone patio and fire pits are incredible. Chris did a great job hosting evenings at the patio. He had everyone sharing experiences and getting to know each other, making this trip even more special for us. Thank you for another wonderful experience. We’ve started talking about our next visit to Bar Harbor with another family member who has always wanted to go there. Chris - we’re coming back!

From the moment we arrived at the Sand Bar Cottage we felt welcomed and comfortable. The location and the setting of the this beautiful Bed and Breakfast was just like it was described on all the online reviews. We were immediately received by the staff with great smiles and a warm welcoming feeling. We arrived a little earlier than check-in so the staff recommended a great lunch spot while they were getting our room ready, the views and food were wonderful. Our trip was to celebrate my partner's birthday and prior to arriving I called and asked Chris, the manager, to set up a bday surprise for my partner, so he made the surprise come through in a beautiful and classy way. The breakfast, and tea times which were included with our stay, were great and professionally created, so kudos to the chef and the staff for making it such a wonderful experience. The location was perfect, walking distance to the main street where all the restaurants and lots of sightseeing locations were. We definitely recommend the Sand Bar Cottage for your stay while visiting Bar Harbor.

We arrived in Bar Harbor a day earlier than expected, thus had no reservation. Fortunately it was off-season and there was vacancy at many establishments. We stopped first at The Primrose, and though they were full, the gentleman booked us at a great rate at this, their sister property - Sand Bar Cottage Inn. Our stay was wonderful. The cottage was very clean with a most comfortable king-sized bed and crisp linens. In addition to a rotating made-to-order breakfast and mid-afternoon snacks, they also host an early evening happy hour. Weather permitting the happy hour reception is outdoors around a couple of fire pits and umbrellas for the sunnier days. Each morning you were offered a choice between a “sweet” breakfast such as blueberry pancakes or a more traditional egg dish. On our first morning we opted for a splendid “Nantucket” quiche dish which was complimented with warm banana bread and breakfast potatoes. In the afternoon, they put out some outstanding freshly baked blueberry cookies and a lemon bundt cake along with a refreshing cranberry juice and pumpkin spice beverage. There was always fresh whole fruit for the taking along with a variety of teas and freshly brewed coffee selections. Parking is plentiful and conveniently just outside your door. The Inn is in a perfect location - one block from the waterfront and walkway to Bar Island - and only a couple of blocks from Main St and all of the shops and restaurants. We cannot comment on the rooms in the main house, but the cottages are quaint. We highly recommend staying here on your visit to Bar Harbor.

You gotta go!

Spent five days in Maine - three at this lovely house. Everything was amazing. The staff, super friendly and helpful. Cookies and tea in the afternoon. Breakfast on the porch (albeit a bit chilly). Outdoor seating areas with fire pits. THE best linens ever! We stayed in the newer building - SW.... great.... fireplace was so nice! Very walkable to restaurants. Guests were very respectful of each other and being quiet when coming in late.

We stayed here for a weekend celebrating our anniversary. Upon arrival there was a bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries for our anniversary . We enjoyed our stay here. Room 6 was large and and bright. The breakfast was amazing. The location is perfect. You can walk to great restaurants. I would stay here again.
