If you're content with your routine work day, your itchy old bed linens, the same boring meals, and the same scenery that surrounds you everyday, stay home, because you're sure to be transformed when you stay at Sand Bar Cottage. I kid you not when I say Chris and his staff became instant family. Freshly baked home made sweets greeted our arrival, our boho cottage was spotless, and the handwritten welcome note from Chris (that included his personal cell number) immediately spoke to his personalized guest service. If you can break away from the comfort of your plush mattress each morning, a gourmet breakfast will start your day, and a tasty array of muffins, freshly baked cookies, and warm beverages await you every afternoon for tea time. All this is included in your stay! The glass beach, lobster boats, restaurants, and unique local artisan gift shops are all within walking distance. *Bring flip flops or rubber boots to comb the beaches for sea glass at low tide. While you take in the warmth of the sun, and the cobalt blue water, let the folks at Sand Bar Cottage pamper you at their elegantly charming getaway. You deserve it!

My husband and I stayed here the first weekend they opened and everything was amazing! Delicious breakfasts, large clean room with fireplace and of course Chris the manager was so accomodating and funny! So close to Main Street and Acadia National Park. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful long weekend stay at this beautiful, historical inn - Highly recommended to fellow travelers

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Sand Bar Cottage Inn in Bar Harbor. We visited from May 2-5, 2025, and stayed in the Chauffeur’s Cottage, a historical, more private building right behind the main house. Sand Bar Cottage is a gorgeously maintained, inviting historical setting that complements the many charms of the town itself. There are admittedly some quirks to adjust to (the sink in our bathroom had two faucets, one cold and one hot, so there is no option for warm water), but that comes with the territory of choosing a historical home with actual character over a cookie-cutter hotel. We had a delicious breakfast at the main house all three mornings and were offered a choice between a savory and sweet option, or a combination of both. The innkeeper Chris was a delightful and informative host, who had great advice for how to make the most of being in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park this time of the year. To briefly expand on our trip, while we were initially worried that we might have messed up by coming to Maine this early in the year, we actually left thoroughly pleased with our decision to visit the first weekend of May. There definitely were tradeoffs, but we found that the pros clearly outweighed the cons. The season in Bar Harbor doesn’t start until later that month, so the town is still relatively empty and accommodations, including this one, are significantly more affordable. While some of the restaurants aren’t open yet (around 40% if I had to ballpark a number), places where you normally have to put your name in 1-2 hours in advance (judging by online reviews), or even make reservations several days before, will seat you right away. Most of the shops are open. The weather is admittedly a crapshoot, but we got lucky. There was some drizzle and mist in the morning on both days, but we got to the trails (we did Beehive on Saturday & Jordan Pond on Sunday) at around 10 am, and not only was there plenty of parking, which is totally unheard of in-season, but the weather had cleared up to the point where we immensely enjoyed both of our hikes. We absolutely loved our trip to Bar Harbor and will certainly be back for another stay at the Sand Bar Cottage Inn. We highly recommend it to our fellow avid hikers and travelers.

I can’t wait to return to this delightful and charming Manor House, centrally located near the harbor. A lovely proprietor name Chris was invaluable in making my visit exceptional! His knowledge, trip recommendations and support were indispensable. Not to mention the daily aroma of the gourmet breakfasts drifting upward to my little niche on the 3rd floor…great way to start my day. I came alone for a respite and came away knowing I would be okay!
