This cozy Maine Inn is located within walking distance of almost all the restaurants and shops you would ever want to visit in Bar Harbor. Guests park for free which I imagine can be a great advantage when it is busy. We visited at the end of the season so things were very quiet. I'm sure the front yard is a lot of fun when the live entertainment is offered. We stayed in a Queen room on the main floor of the Inn - there was a lounge area with a fireplace right outside our door and we really enjoyed sitting there since there wasn't much extra space in our room. They played muzak in the public areas of the Inn but the playlist was very limited so we heard the same songs over and over again. It would have been nice to have more variety. As already stated our room was small. It had a chair squeezed into a corner and a very small fridge. The washroom in our room was quite large but felt chilly because of the time of year. Thankfully, after we asked for the heat to be turned up, they provided us with a heater for the washroom. There was a fully accessible large shower with bench for people with mobility issues. I found it strange that the bed was so high - I can't imagine how someone with mobility issues could get into that bed! It was comfortable enough but challenging for a short person to get in and out. The breakfast was basic. My husband said the coffee wasn't very good. If breakfast is going to be provided, some effort should be made to offer decent coffee! The rest of the offerings were fine - lovely blueberry muffins, fresh fruit and yogurt.

The atmosphere is quaint and relaxed. Our room was spacious and very well cleaned. My husband and I loved having a fireplace in the room and took full advantage of it! We also sat outside by the firepit both nights of our stay and enjoyed the crisp fall air. While not a full breakfast offered in the morning there was quite a selection of goodies to start our day. Unfortunately many of the places in town were already closed for the season but it made for a nice, quiet stay. Given the traffic in the summer, the location is great making everything within walking distance. We didn't move our car once during our stay!!!

The Ivy Manor could not be more convenient. Right on Main street with lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and the shore path within easy walking distance. The parking lot behind is very convenient. My husband and I stayed in a king cottage and it was delightful. The fireplace was very nice. Perhaps only two small issues. The TV reception was iffy at times and the fitted bottom sheet was a bit too small and was constantly slipping off the corners. I'm a bit obsessed with laying on a smooth sheet, so I struggled with this. Sheets with deeper pockets are needed. The room was clean and the towels very soft! We would definitely stay again!

Bed and Muffins with LOCATION

The in is located a half block from the village green. You cannot get a more convenient location than this. There is reserved parking for the guests of the inn and the parking is convenient to the rooms. The room that we had was large with a king bed and a separate seating area. The room was squeaky clean. There was a gas fireplace also in the room. I have mixed reviews on the staff. We had interactions with three of them that were exceptional with friendliness and helpfulness. The fourth staff member was at the desk in the dining area at breakfast and was too engrossed in watching the television to be engaging or helpful. The overall experience was great. The breakfasts were meh. Each day the offering was the same.... a blueberry muffin, granola, oranges, apples and yogurt. There was ice water and orange juice along with coffee, tea and Swiss Miss hot choclolate. Some variety would be a nice touch. You come here for the location and not for the breakfasts. There are numerous nearby spots for full breakfasts however.

Some good things, some not so good things

I have mixed feelings about this place. I wanted to love it, but I just didn't. The location is perfect. That is the best thing about it. And the stay included free on-site parking. Also terrific. The live music on the front green is really special and fantastic. And the rooms were clean. But that's the end of the good stuff. The registration desk staff were adequate, but not welcoming or friendly. I remember thinking that I was lucky she looked up from her phone. Same thing each day...to a person, at the reg desk, the staff member was not rude, but far from welcoming and never knew an answer to a question, whether it was about breakfast the next day or something in town. Everyone in my party agreed that the staff's behavior took away from our experience. The rooms were adequate. certainly not like the pics on their website, so again, a disappointment. I might stay here again, given the amazing location. But I would first look at other properties and see what they offer and give them a try. I get the sense that this inn would benefit from an owner being on-site or maybe a property manager.
