The hotel is in such a perfect location! You can walk everywhere you want to in the downtown area. No worries about driving and finding a parking place. During the summer that’s huge. The hotel is kept immaculate. The last time I visited was during the winter as well and I wish I could have just sat out front in the porch and just enjoyed the view. The rooms are very well kept. Just wish our room (#6) had a table. There was no where to enjoy a snack if play some cards. There is a mini fridge but that’s it. Our room had a great view!

Off season but still great!

Had to make a last minute trip to Bar Harbor to see family and this hotel was awesome! The rooms were cozy and comfortable and the staff had helpful info about the local spots still open. Will definitely come back again for a longer stay during the season!

Unethical hotel to deal with, BEWARE!

+++ Never stayed there, this review format made me pick a date+++ Made a reservation for 4th of July (2 nights) 2025 in 7/2024 through the hotels web site with the required deposit. On 11/11/2024 (4 months later) I received a phone call from an employee named Nick. He informed me that due to problems with their web site the pricing on my reservation was off by $400 per night and that there was a 3 night minimum, not the 2 nights I had booked. To try and be fair he would only charge me an additional $300 per night but it had to be for the 3 night minimum. He had to know immediately or he would be forced to cancel my reservation. Told him I need to discuss with my wife and get back to him. He then said he was confirming at the higher price but if I got back to him quickly he would allow me to cancel with a full refund of my deposit. No apologies or offers to honor the rate on THEIR web site. After discussing with my wife I called back and cancelled as we felt they were unethical liars. Problem was after 4 months most other places I have stayed in Bar Harbor were already booked for our travel dates.I have been to Bar Harbor several times at other locations with no problems. I have also traveled extensively in the US for work and all over the world for pleasure. I have NEVER in my life had any hotel allow me to book through THEIR web site and then screw my plans because of THEIR technical error. Sadly based on other reviews it appears I was not the only one impacted. The responses from the manager are comical at best! We will return to Bar Harbor but would NEVER consider doing business with these unethical liars...

I booked two nights at this hotel paying a deposit of about 40%, after a good two weeks they write me informing me that they were canceling my reservation due to a "system error" and that that rate was no longer available and I find out that it had practically doubled! I reply disputing the decision, since it was clear that they were trying to speculate on the fare after having had time in those 15 days to verify that they could have asked for much more during that period. Had it been a real system error they would have noticed it immediately and would not have charged me the deposit, moreover the rate paid however good I thought it was was still about $300, so absolutely likely and higher than the average rate for many other periods in the same hotel. This was clearly a dishonest practice, the time of booking amounting to a contract which they did not honor. I contacted the Expedia customer service through which I made the reservation and they made arrangements to get a 50% discount if I booked directly with the hotel, but once I contacted the hotel again they informed me that the discount was only 15%. Another rip-off! Really disappointed and unhappy with this treatment. I hope the extra money they take from my room will all be spent on dysentery medicine!

Bait and Switch, did not honor reservation

Booked Acadia Downtown for Aug. 2025 via hotels.com, paid deposit, got confirmation…then 2.5 months later the hotel unilaterally canceled my reservation and refunded my money, claiming a pricing issue. Not even an apology (!). Only a prompt to rebook directly with them at a much-higher (more than 2x) nightly rate. A simple bait-and-switch. It appears I’m not the only one, either. I would not stay at this property if it were free. If you value integrity and prefer reliability STAY AWAY from this hotel.
