Great, clean, and charming place.
Clean room, cozy and warm even in 5F, comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom was really small but it didn't bother us. Nice toiletries, even a shoe polisher! Having a fridge in the room was very convenient, just be prepared that it is a bit noisy when it turns on. Nice ambience through the whole property, free parking right in front of your room. Directly by Canyon de Chelly! The gift store was conveniently open 8AM-8PM. Cozy front desk area. Would definitely stay again! If you are considering a tour of the canyon, choose the original Thunderbird tour company. Our driver and tour guide was Orlando - he was amazing! The stories of his childhood in Canyon de Chelly were fascinating. Given that he took us around on a snowy day and in freezing temperatures, we regret that we did not tip him better....He sure deserved it.

They could be more friendly
We spent here one night. The shower was not working properly.
We were caught by an unexpected snow fall and in our rental car we didn't have any snow brush. We asked the reception if they can help us but they said they had no brush to give us. Didn't they have one in their own car to help two tourists with a car completely covered with snow?
The personnel at the reception could be more friendly... much more.
The cafeteria is good and cheap, and we liked the people working there a lot.

Excellent value and solid motel
Loved the old charm of the hotel. The staff was friendly, the store was quaint (and very reasonable for a gift shop) and I actually loved the cafeteria style restaurant. This really is the best spot if youre planning to visit the canyons for a couple days. We met the nicest people of our while trip while staying here and touring the canyon.

Staff were very unwelcoming on arrival. The room was a good size and felt comfortable. The bathroom was the smallest we'd had on our whole Roadtrip and it was a bit tired. The bath was stained with wear and you'd have difficulty moving around in the bathroom unless your slim. Breakfast wasn't included and can be bought from the adjoining cafeteria, but it would have felt better just to have paid a little extra and it be included. It has about 100 rooms and is well located for a visit to Canyon de Chelly, but there are many other motels/hotels around. If I was returning, I think I'd try somewhere else.

Great value, great people, great location
We slept well in a comfortable room at the back of the motel, exactly as pictured. Don't expect the Four Seasons, the bathroom is small, the towels only adequate, but we appreciated the larger than average fridge, the microwave and the hairdryer. The folks working at the Lodge are all welcoming and helpful. After shopping around we booked a day-long canyon tour through the Lodge and had a great experience with our guide, Harold. Glad we went on a Friday in Nov. The cottonwoods were a brilliant yellow, the sky remarkably blue and there was only one other couple along for the ride in a really cool all terrain vehicle. They even provided blankets! As we were leaving we saw photographers from Arizona Highways in the parking lot making there their canyon travel plans for a photo shoot.
