Hotel Seward

Good location but not a great guestroom

Damaged furniture, older fixtures, view of trash dumpster. Some maintenance issues: major shower drip, lots of lightbulbs out, room was incredibly warm, had to open window to cool down, never found thermostat.
I probably had the least expensive room with a private bathroom but still close to $200 a night. Would probably not stay here again. I understand hotel prices are high even in off season, but would spend a little more elsewhere for a more comfortable room.

All furniture was very old. Entire room dated. 1950s-ish. Unable to move to another room. Cannot recommend this place.

A CABIN ON THE CLIFF

Published Date: Oct, 12, 2022 Travel Date: Sep, 1, 2022 Rating: 5 Sad to say, but we were the last guests to stay at the A CABIN ON THE CLIFF that Hotel Seward used to rent out. They sold it. But man, what an amazing property!!! It overlooked Seward Harbor. Had a hottub on the deck. Was a short walk into town. Completely secluded. Two bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. One and a half baths. No bathtub, but the shower was out-of-this-world!!!! Not only was there a wand, but it had a rain forest head right above. Water pressure was so good it was like a gigantic downpour in the Amazon. I will never ever forget that shower!!!! <3
I really won't go into much further detail with the cabin since you really can't book the it anymore, but I will tell you that the lady at the front desk was a real treat. Her name was Ge'Nell. She had the craziest sense of humor and had us all laughing till our sides hurt. She was also very helpful pointing out the best restaurants in the area. While we were waiting for the cabin to finish being cleaned since we arrived early, she kept us company for a good hour or two until it was ready. She was such a sweetie!
Since the cabin was like a mile or two away from the hotel, you generally have to find your own transportation getting there. Since we did not rent a car, the manager was kind and had their shuttle driver drive us there. That was very much appreciated. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, at the hotel did everything they could to make sure our stay was unforgettable. And that it was.... UNFORGETTABLE!!!!
Out of all the hotels we stayed at during our 11 day Alaskan holiday, Hotel Seward was by far the best. It's really sad that they sold the cabin. Without hesitation, I'd book a week long vacation to Alaska just to stay at that cabin again and go nowhere else except to get a bite to eat!!!! It was a hidden gem everyone should experience at least once in their lives. I'm thankful we will forever have the memories of that cabin and were the last guests to enjoy it.

Horrible Experience!!

After checking into our room, the deadbolt broke and we were locked inside our room with no way for us to get out. The front desk staff and maintenance were unable to get us out until I eventually suggested that they get us out through the door leading to an adjoining room. The room they moved us to was nice, but our day was already ruined by that point. We were told that the manager would be coming to our room to talk to us, but of course that never happened. It would have been nice if we had received some type of compensation for the huge inconvenience, but nothing was ever offered. When we checked out, the woman at the desk staff was very unfriendly. My suggestion is to stay somewhere else!!

Pleasant stay
