This is a siphon to collect lots of your money and dish up poor food. There. is not much to do there and Denali is a long way away. I would fly into Fairbanks and spend an extra day at Denali then get the train. The bus from Anchorage gets you there before lunch. It leaves you there over night for the next leg up to Denali. I feel nthe only reason it stops there is to have you trapped to spend money. There is a nice tree house with a view of not much, but an informative guide that says everything you hear at Denali. Disappointment. There is no where to go, so you have to paid the crazy prices for food. There was an excursion into town, but I was told by a couple, just more souvenir shops and please a wagon ride!

Good food, great view
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nice room, good food at several venues, and an outdoor deck with a great Denali view. The one negative would be that it seemed crowded at times when new bus loads arrived.

In my opinion, this is the best hotel in Denali. It is still rustic, but great location. Great staff. Like every place in Denali, the restaurants are expensive. But just a short walk across the street and you can find several places to eat.

We stayed at the Princess Lodges during our Princess land cruise tour. The drivers on these tours are terrible. We had a young lady who almost dumped the entire bus taking a turn too fast and her response was. Whew I made that.
The lodges are pretty basic but the North Fork restaurant was truly awful. My shrimp scampi came out with no flavor and watery. Steaks were tough and fatty. Everyone was unhappy with there meals.
Check out other restaurants in the area.

ONLY STAYED ONE NIGHT -- WISH I COULD STAY ALL WEEK!
Just stayed overnight en route to a Princess Cruise. The Base Camp Grill has great food, but even greater was the view -- I sat right in front of Denali! The Lodge itself was clean, comfortable, intimate; staff was friendly and alert to all needs.....not a large, sprawling property, but small and intimate, and very comfortable....so.......great food, great views, great customer service, great room.......what else is there to want?! Wish I had more time here.....I'd definitely come back!
