Perfectly fine, nothing special

The rooms are spacious and nice enough. It was all just a bit outdated. There is also no wifi in the room. The photos make it look much nicer than it actually is.

Pleasant but marred by staff attitude at end of the season

The restaurant is good and we had a nice dinner and breakfast the next morning. The staff were nice but were all in 'wind-down mode'. What spoilt our stay was the attitude of reception staff. We were staying on the last evening of the end of season, and they couldn't wait to get rid of us the next morning. I asked if we could wait a little longer in reception for our husbands who were on a fishing trip that morning and was told no (we'd already vacated our rooms). Faced with the prospect of having to wait outside the hotel with luggage, in the rain, I complained and was told we could stay until 11.30am, so our husbands cut short their fishing trip to get back to pick us up. This gave a poor impression of what would otherwise have been a pleasant stay.
So my tip is - don't ever book in for the last night of the season!

Each room has a wood stove (split wood and firestarter provided) and a covered porch. The food is delicious: the bacon lollipop, short rib, and blackened halibut were are fantastic. Among desserts the creme brulee, lava cake, and pecan pie were highlights. The wine list is fairly ordinary but reasonably priced.

Loved it!

We walked into our wooden cabin and WOW, it was like a small apartment. It even had a porch with a table and rocking chair! And a fire ready to light. We were a little way from the main lodge but not too far to walk. There were shuttle buses ready to collect you if you don’t feel like walking. The back patio, where we went for drinks, overlooked the most glorious view of river, mountains snd greenery. There are a number of walks you can do from the property. The staff were very friendly and cheerful and the food was pretty good too. We we’re only here for 2 nights and it rained for the full day we were here but it was so nice in our cabin, we didn’t care!

An average one night stay - lodge trumps restaurant

We arrived early to store our suitcases in advance of a Kenail river float trip. Front desk said we could not check in yet and why don't we keep our suitcases in car. Huh?
After some negotiation they agreed to store our suitcases in some distant office. Great see you later.
After check in and driving to room, we were happy with the basic design and the rustic ambiance. Room was spacious and clean. After killing 20 mosquitos in the room, we settled in. It was a hot day in Cooper Landing so the ceiling fan was on full blast.
We reserved a table at restaurant and were seated with a wonderful view of the river on the outside deck. Calamari starter was great. One look at my wife's order of "prime rib" ruined the show. I have never seen prime rib look like this. I may be wrong but it had that frozen, vacuum packed look. My fussy food fanatic wife ordered something different which, along with my entree, turned out OK. The manager came over to talk to us with an attitude which was not appreciated.
All in all our stay was OK and we enjoyed the room and setting. It could have been really great.
