Positives: 1. Good location 2. Friendly staff 3. Attractive landscaping. Negatives: 1. Probably a deal-breaker: the worst WiFi I have experienced anywhere in the US (including other remote locations). This is a hotel-specific issue. The WiFi works just fine in town and at another local hotel. 2. The food is something slightly short of mediocre. I wasn’t expecting great food at this price. Smart of me to set my expectations low.

So quiet and peaceful! Great breakfast and location. CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!

After reading reviews I decided to take a chance on this place, and am I glad we did!! The place is immaculate and tucked away in an easy to access but secluded area of Keystone. It is so peaceful. They have a full hot breakfast that is really, really good for a hotel breakfast. There is a pub where we ate supper one night and it was fine... really liked that we could just walk over there and not go anywhere. They light a fire pit each evening and it is nice to sit around and talk with other travelers from all over. They have outdoor hot tubs, but no pool. I would most definitely stay here again!!

The Lodge is a Keeper in Keystone!

We headed toward the K Bar S Lodge ($222.49 a night) in Keystone for the first of our four-night road trip. Great location off the main highway, nestled in the hills. Take a right just before the little city center of Keystone and you’ll see the lodge on your right. There were many sets of two-story buildings. We were on the top floor with a balcony view of the hills. The room was large, clean, and had a king bed, mini-fridge, Nespresso with pods, strong air-conditioning, firm bed, big towels…loved the room. The included breakfast the following morning was served in a glass paneled room by two hard-working women. There was fresh fruit, strong coffee, juices, two types of scrambled eggs, sliced ham, breads, muffins, cereals, and a pancake machine. Each lodge area had four rooms or so on the bottom floor and four on the top. There was an ice machine on the first floor next to an outdoor hot tub. It was an ideal set up for us. I noticed that there was a Tauck touring bus in the parking lot so the hotel must attract bus groups. We would stay there again!

Hotel is so overpriced. The hotel is nice and you have a pretty far off view of Mt Rushmore ONLY in a minimum number of rooms so be sure to ask for one such room. Too many tour buses to even get to breakfast line. No activities. Lots of venomous snake warnings. Stay in Custer Park instead. Keystone is kitschy.

Loved this place. We didn't even realize the first night that we could see George's profile on Mt Rushmore from our room! The grounds are lovely, just up the hill but away from the hubbub of the little town of Keystone. Common area and rooms are clean, well maintained. Food very good. Delightful staff (mainly young people from other countries on work visas).
