Going from Phoenix to Wisconsin, through Page Arizona, then Capital Reef National Park, needed a starting point for the next day, reading reviews picked the Broken Spur, not disappointed at all, lived up to all the reviews we read, except it was a cold and windy evening, Food was fabulous, waitresses were good at paying attention to detail, with plenty of help on hand. Highly recommend it, and the free buffet breakfast was an excellent bonus!!!!

Broken Spur is super convenient to Capitol Reef National Park, and it also has a restaurant, so it seemed like a great choice for a visit to the park was limited to a single morning. Check-in was efficient, the room was fine in a fluorescent-lighting-but-comfortable-bed kind of way. I never figured out how to keep the room from being too hot or too cool, but I like to sleep cool anyway. The restaurant was a disappointment. It's a steakhouse, so I guess I should have gotten a steak, but the hamburger I ordered came fully well-done, even though I asked for it medium rare. A steakhouse should know how to cook a hamburger, no? The bigger disappointment was breakfast, which is buffet-only. Scrambled eggs that probably started as a powder, sausages (which always taste great when steamed, right?), one kind of (very white) bread, etc. Which would all be okay except the most important thing, the coffee, was pretty bad. I didn't know it was possible to get bad coffee these days. On the plus side, at dinner there was a good selection of wines by the glass, if you drink wines in the $10-14 retail range (they charge $7-9, which is quite reasonable) , which I don't. There was an interesting selection of local-ish beers (as well as the standard stuff), but I had better stuff in my room, so I waited. If you're visiting Capitol Reef, Broken Spur is a good choice to stay, and if you have limited time, it's a convenient place to eat. (Driving around, I saw there were a bunch of other places to eat that wouldn't have been inconvenient; if I returned I would check them out.)

Our room was great, quiet and upstairs as requested. Atmosphere is quaint "cowboy" without overdoing it. Are at the Steakhouse which was nothing fancy but had really good food and pleasant service. All the staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful. Only room for improvement: the refrigerator in the room was noisy, noticeable when trying to sleep. Two of the three washer-dryer units were out of service. Luckily the functional one was free when we needed it. Would definitely come here again and recommend to others

Great choice

Room was clean, comfortable, very nice with a great view. Would definitely stay again. Restaurant was very good and reasonable. Husband had steak and it was done perfectly. I had 2 starters - loaded potato skins and sirloin tips (very good) - and it was actually more than I could eat. Highly recommend.
