We stayed in a family 2 bedroom suite with a balcony facing the pier for 3 nights. The grounds are beautiful as is the view. The room was perfect, clean and spacious. Breakfast was done well as you choose your selections the night before and pick up in the am at your desired time. Didn’t get an opportunity to swim but the outdoor pool was heated... we checked! They have an indoor pool as well. This hotel was 1 mile outside of the downtown area which was exactly what we were looking for. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Great location, but a bit shabby in the Willows

We stayed in the Willows, room 823 for 5 nights and we enjoyed the location outside of the busy downtown of Bar Harbor—it was very peaceful!—and the grounds were beautiful and convenient to access. We were the perfect distance from Acadia and from downtown. However, the old building we were in and our room was disappointing. Our three windows did not allow us access to the breeze: one had no screen, and the other two were broken. It took 2 days to fix, and they offered to relocate us for when they had a vacancy, but by then they had fixed 2 of the windows. Our bathroom smelled very strongly like mildew, and when I called the front desk about it they said the mildew smell was “part of the charm of an old building.” There were water stains on the ceiling. The rooms creak and you can hear everything out on the balconies and in the hallways. What was most disappointing was the balcony—although the room had a beautiful view, the deck furniture out there is too low, so that when you’re sitting in it, you’re eye level with the handrail and can’t really see the water well. We did end up going elsewhere on the grounds to sit and enjoy the view, but we paid a premium for a waterview balcony and it wasn’t the best. The breakfast was convenient to pick up, but whether everything we had asked for was in the bag varied from day to day. All in all, it’s a nice place but I think we overpaid for not being in one of the newer buildings. Next time, we might come back and stay in one of the newer buildings.

The property is right on the lake, 20 min walk to downtown bar harbor, and very clean! Loved the balcony view! The staff was very sweet and helpful! They have a heated pool, boat tours, and went above and beyond to provide a clean room!

What a lovely resort. So many rooms and views to choose from! All with modern conveniences and lovely bath products. What really sets this hotel apart is the staff. Superior personalized service. Caring, warm and thoughtful. They really make your stay perfect- we didn't want to go anywhere else for shopping, eating, or amazing views! The front desk staff made excellent recommendations for any question we had, and were truly delighted to get feedback and make suggestions based on our family's needs. Breakfast offerings were plentiful and yummy and were bagged due to Covid restrictions. The Bistro though- best bar and dining around by far (lobster roll and lobster mac and cheese to die for). The specialty drinks were meticulously hand crafted by the staff who definitely show their passion for fresh local ingredients. You MUST try! Families with any age children will love it here. A short walk from town and yet just far away from the business of downtown. Perfect oasis and a gem!

Relaxing stay in Acadia

Traveled up to Acadia for 3 nights. Traveled as a family so booked a suite in the Atlantic Building. Checked in around 4pm and the room was available. The room exceeded my expectations in terms of size. King bed in a room and 2 queen beds in the living area. Both rooms had closets and desks and TVs. The terrace was a lovely spot in the morning to look at the water and to enjoy the morning sun. Since the suite is at the end, it was very quiet at night even with the windows open. Guess I shouldn't be worried about my phone but there was a lack of plugs for your electronics. Electronic safe, fridge and coffee maker and large screen TV (which we never used). Room was clean, bathroom shower was large. The Atlantic Oceanside had 2 pools (outdoor and indoors) which we both used. It was nice to jump in the pool after a long day of hiking. There was a gym also but did not use and not sure if it was open. No problem finding parking every night. No housekeeping but they gave you a list to check off if you needed anything. Breakfast was also prepared every morning in the main building. You could fill in a form the night before or go there and wait. Nothing spectacular but you could it was a nice to have your breakfast on the terrace. Bar Harbor is a quick drive but during our stay, it was crowded. We waited 1 hour for Thurston's Pound and 2 hours for dinner at West Side Cafe (wonderful food). Even ice cream at Mt Desert Ice Cream was a good 10 min wait. Many of the restaurants had indicated that due to covid, they were undermanned and things were taking longer as they had to space out tables too. Due to Covid, no Island Explorer buses in the park so the parking lots were full (esp Jordan Pond) so go early or be patient! Overall, the Atlantic Oceanside was a great stay. It was expensive for what we paid for ($500 a night during high season).
