Nice place but check the room for a balcony for the best experience!

The Inn is older and remodeled in a very attractive rustic theme. I highly recommend reading what each room has before booking as we thought all rooms had a balcony but they do not, and looking out at the lake would be a very different experience for the cost difference than overlooking the parking lot. The elevator is small, older and makes loud noises as it struggles to move up and down. The bathroom and tub/shower were small and in need of updates but clean. There are wood floors instead of carpet but they were very pretty, loud but pretty. The tv was very large and had lots of easy options and the bed was very comfortable but the pillows were terribly lumpy and small. The common area hallways are very narrow and in need of updating as it makes it feel a bit dingy. The bar and deck are very very nice and have views of the lake & lots of places to sit and relax, very nice! The restaurant downstairs was gorgeous and has an incredible ambiance. The front staff needs to treat customers better for sure, friendly was not a high priority. But overall it’s a fun place to stay and close to everything.

We stayed here last night. Our room was clean and spacious. It was decorated in a nice rustic style. Large TV and comfortable bed. Breakfast wasn’t included so we had breakfast in their restaurant. We both had the Breakfast Croissant that were very good.

Unlike many other places in and around Grand Lake, The Gateway Inn has a/c.

There were a couple of minor problems. I had to wait about 10 minutes to check-in at 4pm because no employee was available. Also, there's no sign on the a/c unit to say that it is controlled from a thermostat on the wall so I thought that the a/c wasn't working correctly when it was. Other than that, this is a nice place. The particular feature I liked was the working a/c. Air conditioning does not exist at many properties in Grand Lake and is a key feature in July when you've been on a long, hot hike. The room was also significantly larger and more attractive than I had expected.

Pillows have small lumps, beds are bad and too soft, only 2 hard chairs to sit on in the room, no lobby to sit in, coffee urn at front desk has no coffee, wood blinds in the room are broken, orange mold in the shower, one window on main floor facing the parking lot. Poor place to stay for a price of almost $300 per night.

Great place to stay when visiting west side of Rocky Mountain NP

Our overall experience here was mixed - but that is no fault of the hotel or the staff. The room was really nice and super clean. The location was excellent! Jumping off point for Rocky Mountain NP and tons of food options in Grand Lake. There was a motorcycle convention of some sort that contributed lots of noise, congestion and long lines at check-in. The restaurant downstairs is convenient - we ate there for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was terrible - don't expect to get a simple meal within 2 hours in the off season because there is only ONE person working. The restaurant is completely unassociated with the hotel, so that has no bearing on the hotel review at all.
