Lovely Hotel

Two fabulously comfortable beds and lots of lovely towels and cloths. Very quiet and we also had a little balcony. Very friendly staff. The usual amenities in the room included a microwave, ginormous television, fridge, hairdryer, hangers, chest of drawers and a table with two chairs. Even though there was a bar/restaurant right below us, we didn't hear a thing. The view from our little balcony was beautiful but you couldn't see the lake. The mountains were spectacular though. I would love to stay here again.

Good place to stop on way to Rocky Mt Ntl Park!

The room was clean and decorated like a rustic mountain cabin, which was cute. There was an electric fireplace on one wall and a balcony with a distant view of the lake. The bathroom was rather small, but adequate and the bed was comfortable. We did not eat at the hotel restaraunt, due to mixed reviews. This was a nice place to stop, as we wanted to be close to the National Park entrance, due to an early reservation entrance time at RMNP. This worked out great for us and Grand Lake was a cute little town.

Balcony View = cigarette smell and noise. Save your $$

First of all, the workers sit and smoke/chat right below the balcony, in the parking lot area. Thus, one could not even enjoy the balcony view or leave the sliding door open due to cigarette smoke/chatter noise. Second, the bar had a live singer for several hours the evening we stayed. Our room was about 3 down from the restaurant area. The singing was SO LOUD INSIDE our room, even with all the doors/windows closed and blinds drawn. The woman was some kind of guitar/folk singer, which is not our cup of tea. She played for at least two hours (from when we got to our room at 7:00 until 9:00 pm). We had a white noise machine cranked up as loud as it would go and could STILL hear the woman singing clear as day inside our room. Watching TV or relaxing was impossible. The balcony was a no-go. We resorted to putting in headphones and watching things on our tablets at a loud setting to drown out the singing. The fact that they sold this room at a premium, rather than a steep discount, is bananas. Fortunately, we were only staying one night and hit the road early the next morning. The options for hotels in this town seemed pretty slim. I don't think we'd stay in this town again after this experience.

What I liked best was the face we saw a moose running down the rd and there were groundhogs in the car park (my favourite!!). No breakfast. Dinner was pretty lame. Would try and eat somewhere else if you can. Good stop over wouldn’t stay for long.
A decent hotel with a good location.

- The room was spacious and clean.
- The location is great for the town and RMN Park.
- The bar was active on the weekend nights if you're looking for music.
- The price, while not cheap, was decent value for the area.
The Bad:
- The bathroom was a little disappointing as it is in need of updating and repairs (water/mineral stains around the base of the toilet, loose shower handle, tissue holder detaching from the wall), but not a deal breaker.
- The bed was a bit too hard for me, but that is a personal preference.
- The pillows were horrible.
- Coffee, when there was any in the lobby dispenser, was like mud. Had to pay $2 for a k-cup from the lobby machine a couple of days and went to town for a $4.50 cup the others.
- The restaurant food was sub-par, and very expensive for what you got. i.e.: a small chicken breast parmesan on a hamburger roll was $20.
- Front desk staff, particularly the younger staff, were generally unpleasant. As noted in another review, the one guy never looked up from his phone, and didn't utter a peep when I checked out. No "I hope you enjoyed your stay" or "Have a nice day"...nothing. I would assume he was also tasked to make the coffee for the dispenser in the morning, but as indicated, it was almost always empty.
Verdict: While there were some aspects of my stay that were less than perfect, I would stay here again if I venture back to Grand Lake.
