Our room should have been ready by 4pm at check in. It was finally ready at 8pm. Not the sort of welcome you want when you feel really jet lagged from England. Because of the error they promised us free breakfast in the morning. Well, that was a joke because there was only one person at the reception desk attending to people and cooking! After 25 minutes of even only waiting for a cup of coffee or even to be served, we dumped our keys and went to the cafe down the road. The rooms are nice and spacious but they don't even put kettles or plastic cups in the rooms. So we couldn't have coffee either in our rooms or at reception. What a joke!

Great family option with the very spacious bunk bed room, great location, nicely renovated, fun outdoor/camping theme. Could've provided in room coffee/tea for the price we paid but I guess they are trying to get you to buy from their cafe, which worked. Comfortable beds, can't think of anything else wrong - just a bit pricey.

What a unique hotel experience! While catering to hikers, bikers, climbers and adventurers, we spent our 25th wedding anniversary here. Neat, clean spotless rooms, with fresh wood smell from an obvious rebuild, great bedding sheets, towels, amenities like hot tub, pool, fire pits, lobby lounge. Jesse, the AGM, great guy as we’re all the staff. We stay at some of the best hotels in the world, this will always be one of our most memorable escapes. Easy access to Joshua Tree NP and Palm Springs.

Really smart remodel of a conveniently located old hotel off the highway, with spacious rooms, a large pool and nice common areas. Staff was wonderful and worth five stars for their attitude and service. I've only given four stars because some of the design features in the room were tricky, in particular the bedside lamps (hard to figure out how to turn on) and the two overhead lights (which shut off via motion sensor if you were, say, sitting still reading). More lighting overall would have been great. And perhaps free morning coffee would be good too, like so many hotels and motels do these days. Otherwise: very comfy beds, cleverly designed rooms (even without closets) and a decent bathroom. I'd return, now that I know how to operate everything in the room. The park is about 20 minutes away, but it's an easy ride and there are lot of intriguing places to stop along the way, including some good restaurants.

Good new JT option

We booked a stay at FSJT after a great stay at their Moab location earlier in the year. Pros: - Firm foam mattresses are again a feature at this JT location - Layout and overall REI-meets-hip motel aesthetic are nice - Friendly staff - Sashary and co were very nice Cons: - Bit of highway noise depending on which of the 60+ rooms you score. FSJT is located on the highway right by the highly trafficked entry/exit point to the Joshua Tree area - Terrible, overly soft pillows - No kettle in room - No free coffee in lobby like Moab location. Disappointing to have things change from location to location, as this was a welcome touch in the mornings
