Unprofessional, unsafe, and a total mess

Terrible experience at Field Station Joshua Tree. We arrived at 1 PM, well before check-in time, and were told our room would be ready shortly. Instead, we sat waiting for hours. It’s now two hours past the official check-in time, and the staff still couldn’t give us a timeline. Worse — when they finally handed us a room key, it was to a room that was already occupied. Completely unacceptable and unsafe. There was no manager on site to escalate the issue, and the front desk staff was rude, dismissive, and seemed completely overwhelmed. This property may look appealing online, but it’s extremely poorly run. I would not recommend staying here — there are far better options in Joshua Tree where you’ll be treated with basic professionalism and respect.

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay with our family of 5. Room was clean, spacious, and had more than enough space for our kiddos in the deluxe double with bunk beds. Plenty of table space and small fridge to store our snacks and food that we brought along with us for our day trips into Joshua Tree park. Just wish there was a microwave, even in the lounge at least, to be able to heat up any left overs. Location was great, only 20min drive to the park entrance. We were able to spend mornings in the park and come back to the room after lunch. Kids were able to enjoy the pool and a game of checkers in the lounge during the afternoon before going back to the park for sunset and stargazing.

Not quite at stylish as photos or website

We (me & family) went to Field Station for vacation in Yucca Valley to be near Joshua Tree National Park. The room was at the rear end of the second building behind, and had no view, just the car park. Other rooms on the main building had chairs and tables on a mini terrace overlooking the fire pit. Because we were in the desert near nice hikes, there were people upstairs walking and dragging items around at 4.30 / 5am, getting ready for a sunrise hike - we heard from locals that this was a previous hotel/motel that’s had a facelift, so the insulation isn’t great. The decor was not quite what it looked like on the web or here on TA, not as stylish and generally everything felt smaller. There could have been a bit more art or shelves in the bigger rooms - it felt like they had cut a few corners and hadn’t fulfilled their vision and the refurb budget fell short. The couch was basically a 2 person folding camping couch but bigger and foldable (we saw this in the web pics but thought there would also be another couch since the room was for 6 people!)…The other seating furniture was like a directors chair, foldable and uncomfortable too, so we placed pillows as comfort. The bunk beds didn’t have reading lights which was a real shame - could be such a cheap and easy addition. Overall it was clean and modern. The pictures of a 6 person room on the website showed a bath and shower in the bathroom - our bathroom was tiny, it was literally a shower cubicle and toilet in the smallest possible space, that was definitely a disappointment. The pictures of the pool looked slightly bigger on the website and it was quite cold and felt a little dated. Note that there was no housekeeping, which I can understand being in its location. Overall its vision and branding is great, but it doesn’t quite deliver - it is a fresh 3 star hotel, but I think it could do with just a few minor improvements and maybe have photos that don’t use wide angle so you get a true representation of size and aren’t disappointed.

Wow! Wonderful hotel perfect for the outdoorsy. Spent 3 nights here to visit JTNP, would love to come back! Pros- In between Palm Springs and Joshua Tree, Cabazon Dinosaurs and In N Out a drive away Fire pit in the courtyard for cool mornings and nights Cute merch Comfy beds, no carpet, nice shower with shampoo and soap Coffee and made to order snacks Quiet, just outside of the nearby town Very friendly staff Cons- Drip coffee is for purchase Bring an eye mask if small lights wake you up (light switches glow) No face sized towels Not a lot of restaurants immediately nearby, but it’s a fun drive! Ask for a 2nd floor room if noise wakes you up Food recommendations- Luna Bakery, Red Dog Saloon, The Dez, Frontier Cafe

The hotel was very practically designed for travelers. The hotel is clean and simple with space for bags and gear. The coffee shop is really helpful in the lobby. The hard surface floor feels cleaner than old hotel carpet. The linens are nice. The outdoor firepit is a nice touch to make the hotel feel homey. Nice space for friends or family to gather.
