Everything fine until 6 am as I got up for an early departure. Power went off and had to get ready in the dark. This was just a short stopover on a driving trip and due to the hotel not being inexpensive, asked the desk clerk for an adjustment to the rate due to the inconvenience. She said she could not do this right away but would “send me an email.” Email arrived without any mention of the matter.
This is why it is not worth not staying in a decent chain hotel where they act out of consideration to their clients.

Resort ambience for the price of a moderate chain hotel. On-site restaurant, walking trails, firepits.
For the price of a chain hotel,, we booked at the Running Y Ranch. The main lodge offers hotel rooms within the grounds of a larger golf resort. This well maintained updated resort, built 15-20 years ago, provides a refreshing stay at about the same rate as some area national chains. Near Klamath birding, about 1.5 hours from Crater Lake.
Our third-floor spacious room in the main lodge with two queens was well appointed, clean. A third floor fireplace with oversize pillow-sofas was an inviting surprise, a place to read, make a phone call. (For family gatherings or larger groups, there are stand-alone homes for rent.)
In the entry hall The Rudy Duck restaurant provides breakfast, lunch, dinner at slightly high prices, but abundant serving sizes. The patio has two firepits with seating and heat lamps. In October 2021, Ruddy Duck did not take reservations, but our wait was short. Pork chops, BBQ pork, flatbread pizza, salad and wine were competently served by Sam. The cook verified GLUTEN FREE options and reconfirmed celiac preparation.
We enjoyed the paved trails for a morning walk. Longer stays might enjoy golfing, tennis, and an even a winter skating pond.
Migratory birds winter here, especially December to February. We'll be back.
Leaving we saw a herd of deer!

LOCATION AND VIEW
The non- golf view looks over the parking lot. The golf view is nice. The balcony makes the room, without out it the room is dark and plain. They must want you out of the room. The quality of furnishing was OK. The restaurant and lobby are great. The Indian restaurant on property was very good. Looks like a great golf course. Staff tries to please.

Would not return
The first room we checked into smelled terrible and we asked to be moved. The second room was dirty and worn. The screen door was off and just sitting next to the sliding door, the sheets were stained and the patio was filthy. The exterior of the hotel needs maintenance and care as well. I feel bad because the people that work there seem nice but we would never return.
