A beautiful property, terribly mismanaged. OK, we all know Covid-19 badly hurt the travel industry, so I understand certain cutbacks: lack of staff, lack of cleaning services, no in-room wifi, no lunch service, and no reservations for the limited dinner service that's available. The room rate, however, does not suffer from cutbacks (and please note there's no such thing as taxis/uber in Talkeetna, and the hotel shuttle service doesn't operate before 10 AM or after 5:30 PM) But there's simply no excuse for the pricey self-serve breakfast buffet that hasn't any kind of bread or toast! In lieu of that, there's a takeout stand (7am - noon only) with a LONG, LONG waiting line because only one person is taking orders, filling orders, ringing up orders and acting as a coffee barista. My suggestion: managment should offer complimentary self-serve coffee, put out a few toasters and offer bread to the customers who are paying top dollar for the back porch views.

Great location! Comfortable and clean rooms! Great lobby and deck for hanging out.

If you are traveling to Alaska in 2021, please remember that everyone is slowly recovering from a global pandemic which effected hospitality greatly. Be patient with your hotels. Everyone at this hotel was working at 100% to keep guests happy. Our room was lovely. Our room did not face the mountains, but we spent the evenings in the lobby by the fireplace which faces Denali and the foothills. We met other guests and had wine. It was just lovely. One night there was live music which was just wonderful! The restaurant staff were 100%! Not only were the efficient, they were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The coffee cart was perfect for our morning. The breakfast burrito was great! A great stay!

In Desperate Need Of Employees

The Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge need employees to open the restaurant, provide breakfast and have daily maid service. It is a beautiful property but they are slammed with all of the bus trips going in and out. They don't have the help they need to provide the level of service that is required at a property of this sort.

We enjoyed our stay at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. The view was superb! We enjoyed our dinner on the deck and thought there was nice variety of choices on the menu. I would stay there again—it did not disappoint!

Our experience (on 6/7) was similar to that of several recent reviewers. Our room (at this large, and (physically) lovely facility) was not available until 6 pm (2 hours after our arrival). While we understand the hotel’s current short-staffing, the lack of “wait-time” and breakfast dining options (dinner starts at 5 pm, and only a “coffee-cart” is available for breakfast) made the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge an exceedingly poor value. (In contrast to our Denali N.P. lodging (McKinley Creekside Cabins & Cafe), which provided excellent service, dining and value!)
