A unique hotel in a fantastic location. The owners were so helpful, warm and genuine. They gave us recommendations and spent time answering questions about the local area. We enjoyed food on the second night and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay!

Best Yosemite area hotel and restaurant in a historic and fun town!

Hotel Charlotte is a great base for visiting Yosemite and the Sierra Foothills. Rooms are comfortable and clean with lots of rustic charm. The owner/innkeeper, Finn, is so friendly and enthusiastic about the hotel and his work, he makes you feel very welcome. They also have a wonderful restaurant - Charlotte's Tavern. Everything is excellent, and I highly recommend the pork chop - amazing!! There was live music at the restaurant one night during our stay. Mellow folk and jazz - not too loud or too late at night. Free parking in back. Fresh muffins, fruit and coffee in the lobby. Hotel Charlotte is right on the main street of Groveland with several shops and restaurants. Go to the historic Iron Door Saloon across the street for drinks and casual meals, including a good breakfast. Go to Mountain Sage for the best coffee in town in a wonderful old cottage with a gallery, clothing shop and plant nursery. The historic Jamestown is nearby and worth exploring. While in Jamestown, try wine tasting at Gianelli Vinyards. They have a beautiful terrace/tasting room on a hill outside of town with amazing views, friendly service and great wines!

I’m going to give an honest review. The first time staying at this hotel was with the owners who last owned it back in 2017. It was truly a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. Staff was genuinely kind and helpful. Now, for the new owners, they added a nice touch to the outdoors areas. My reasoning for the one star was because our stay was horrible due to the owner running his mouth day and night. He speaks very loud and fast. Has no regard for guest relaxing or sleeping. We waited 20 minutes to check in because he was running his mouth and wasn’t even paying attention. Whatever you do don’t sleep in the nicer rooms downstairs close to check in or his office. Also, bring your own linens. Our sheets were not clean. And neither was the furniture in our room.

There's a reason why countless reviews mention the staff - their friendliness (Finn especially) puts this quaint hotel over the top. While we loved the cozy atmosphere, clean accommodations, and delicious food, the staff made us feel welcomed and a part of their little family. They even greeted my pup with some treats in our room upon arrival. We would be delighted to stay here again.
