I wanted to speak with the owner regarding a rude employee during my June 2019 stay at the Hatchet. After digging around on the Hatchet’s website for contact information, I was amazed to discover that the rude man behind the counter wasn’t some lowly staff helper, but it was the “general manager” of the place, Pat O’Gara. I brought a safety issue to Pat’s attention during may stay there. Not only did Pat ignore the issue during my stay, his tone was harsh and rude when he said he wouldn’t be doing anything about it. If you browse the other reviews on this website (and other review websites too), you’ll find several people noting the rude staff here, and specifically calling out Pat by name. More importantly, Pat didn’t address a safety issue that he should have, so if you are considering the Hatchet, I would recommend that you find another place to stay.

Enjoyed our stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hatchet Resort. The room was very clean and comfortable, but it was VERY small for 4 adult sized people. But, the location to the Tetons and Yellowstone was really good. My husband ate at the grill for breakfast and he thought it was good.

The log cabin definitely makes one feel at home. Being a cabin, it is a little tight on space. There is no refrigerator or ventilation. Linen, bathroom, and towels are clean. It has two restaurants on it's grounds. Free Keurig beverages.

Don't stay here unless you like rude staff!
Patrick O'Gara was rude and argumentative to a whole new level for someone in guest services and hospitality business. We booked on 5/7/2019 for a total of $163.92. With half due charged to our card for $81.96 at the time of booking and the other $81.96 due at check in. When we arrived on 5/21/2019, Mr. Patrick O'Gara, the general manager charged us a total of $185.52 for the room! Because he said 'one of my employees made a mistake when you booked'. I told him that we booked through booking.com and he said in his nasty tone 'No! you booked through our website'. He further said 'Look folks, it was a mistake as simple as that, you were charged the wrong price', 'I have better things to do than try to take $10 from you'. When he was actually GETTING US FOR ABOUT $22. And if he had better things to do than to take our money, then it seems it wasn't a big deal to him --- so why did we need to pay for his mistake? AND be berated by him! We've met a lot of rude @ss people in our travels over the years --- but this man --- is one of the most memorable. It's a shame because the property is nice, but I would never ever recommend anyone to stay there as long as Mr. Patrick O'Gara is "in charge" as he would say.

Cozy, clean and convenient!
Loved staying at the Hatchet. Right on the highway but I never heard any noise. Log cabin decor standard room was comfy and clean. Food a bit pricey but delicious. Good snack and souvenir options at store and gas too! So convenient for both Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
