Excellent location for exploring Badlands National Park

Published Date: Oct, 5, 2022 Travel Date: Sep, 1, 2022 Rating: 4 Expectations exceeded. All the rooms in the lodge within Badlands national park were booked so I decided to try staying in Interior. The Badlands Inn was just outside of the Interior entrance to Badlands. We walked in without reservations and got the last available room. It was a room with 2 queens on the second floor. The room was large and very comfortable. It had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. There was Wi-Fi which I used without problem. The room was clean and everything was in working order. The view from the window and front balcony was beautiful. The person working the office was friendly and processed the check-in promptly. The location of this motel is ideal for accessing Badlands national park. You can see the Interior park entrance booth from the room we stayed in. It is only a couple of minutes to the park lodge where there is a restaurant and a park/campground store. The visitor center is just on the other side of the lodge. Staying at the Badlands Inn is like staying in the park. There is nothing else around, so it is quite. If you are looking for night life other than star gazing or you want a choice of dining establishment, this is not the place for you.
There is no elevator, so if you are on the second floor you will need to carry your luggage up. There is no breakfast. Breakfast is available at the park lodge just a couple of minutes away.
The location of this motel is ideal and the price is reasonable. If I ever return to the Badlands national park, the Badlands Inn will be my first choice for lodging.

Good place in the Badlands

Published Date: Sep, 29, 2022 Travel Date: Sep, 1, 2022 Rating: 5 We checked into the Badlands Inn after a disappointing stay at another motel in the area. The Badlands Inn was clean, comfy, bright and airy (even had a window in the bathroom). The room had a fridge and microwave, so suggest you bring some food (as otherwise you would need to drive a couple of miles for dining). Location was just outside the Badlands park entrance and very convenient to get back to the Visitor Center for the evening presentation. Highly recommended.

Middle of nowhere, scarce dining options, nobody in the office, little communication

Published Date: Sep, 27, 2022 Travel Date: Sep, 1, 2022 Rating: 1 We booked 2 nights at this hotel. When we arrived at 730 pm the office was closed. Our keys were in an envelope outside the office for “late checkins”. Only 1 of the 2 keys actually worked. There was only one place in the area still open that we could find that was Serving food for dinner. We weren’t told the office hours ahead of time and had no one to ask questions. Sign on the door said office opened at 7 am the next day. Had to drive to the lodge inside the park for breakfast at 8 am. The lady in the lodge said we could check out early without penalty and that they do it all the time but had to go to the in. To do in on their system. Drive back to This inn after 8 and still nobody. I called, no answer and left a message and nobody called back. Had to call the lodge inside the park again to talk to someone. Got a different lady than the one I saw in Person. They said the girl that runs the inn was off for a couple days (but there was no notice on the door or in our arrival packet about that). We checked out a day early to move to a better location with better service and earlier dining options and they refused to refund us for the night bc it was “their policy”. This hotel, in my opinion, had lousy service, lousy communication and has no interest in accommodating anyone who needs coffee or food before 8 am and no interest in customer satisfaction. Wish I would’ve read these reviews before I booked it. I would not have stayed here at all Stay away!

Worst of the trip

No frills but perfect location

Clean and appropriately provisioned, quiet even with adjacent rooms occupied by families. This isn’t a luxury hotel, but it gets the job done for a good price.
