The fifth Avenue bistro, formally called Miss Gene’s place is right across the street and they have amazing food.

Amazing staff, cozy hotel!

After a disappointing morning disembarking from our cruise, due to the road access to the National park being closed, we suddenly had an unexpected full day in Seward. After visiting the Sea Life Center, we pretty much covered everything the town had to offer by noon, and were ready to find somewhere to huddle up and wait out the rain.
We walked into the Hotel Edgewater and asked about a day rate. The lovely receptionist (Anastasia) said she wasn’t sure if she could do that, but she’d find out. She checked with the front desk manager and gave us a great rate for the afternoon, and despite them just reopening for the season, had a lovely clean King room ready for us.
We were able to dry off, warm up, and even get a nice nap in. The room was basic, but spotlessly clean well appointed with a coffee service ready to go.
We found ourselves disappointed when the time to catch our train arrived, as we would have loved to stay longer at this sweet hotel! The staff here is what really makes this hotel shine! They ALL go above and beyond!

There is a path along the cove which leads to the docks, about a mile or so walk. Beautiful scenery and walking distance to Alaska Sea Life Center and the library. Restaurants and shops are just blocks away.
The hotel is very well appointed and everyone at the front desk was helpful with anything we needed. Coffee and tea are available 24/7. There is a large breakfast area and plenty of seating in the lobby. The full breakfast was great, everything was very clean and foods were always refilled promptly. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the park, which was worth the small extra charge.

Your room will not be ready at 4PM, your room will not be cleaned unless you request it, and they will not let you know you have to do that.... and they cant refund or discount anything in exchange. But we paid close to 300 USD a night. Not ok. Im sure you can do better.

Check in is always a breeze and the room and kitchen staff are very inviting and helpful. We have never had any issues at this property. Would definitely recommend, if staying in the area.
