We stayed here in October 2020. This was the first vacation we'd taken since Covid-19. We felt very comfortable with the precautions that the hotel has implemented. Because of Covid, the hot breakfast was not offered and instead they provided a bagged breakfast with a muffin, fruit cocktail, and juice. The hotel was clean, and the staff was very friendly. As we left, elk were grazing in the field next to the hotel. The hotel is very well located to take advantage of the scenic attractions in the area. We used the hotel as home base and visited waterfalls in the Cherokee, Highlands, Cashiers, Brevard, and Maggie Valley areas. I would stay in this hotel again.

Reduced Amenities Due to Covid-19 Precautions.

When greeted at the Hotel I was told there would be No Housekeeping for my 7 days stay, No in-room coffee maker and no Continental Breakfast all due to precautions for the Corona Virus. I asked at the desk, since all of the reductions in Service if there would be a reduction in the price I would have to pay, they said No and I expressed my concern and was told that it was all Corporate's orders. I contacted Wyndham Corporate with my concerns and they never responded.....The Front Desk Staff at the Hotel were all very Pleasant as usual.

Resourceful front desk, the room was clean. Rebekah was helpful in the AM.My family enjoyed their stay. Lots of resturants around this hotel. Also the casino is only 5 minutes away. Plenty of parking and Elk on the track.

Doable for one night during covid pandemic...

With some hesitation, a girlfriend and I decided that we needed a change of scenery after both of us strictly adhering to 'staying at home' since covid began other than going to the grocery store and walking outside-with masks. We are both avid travelers and its' unheard of to not have a weekend getaway in three months for either of us! We are also both casino-enthusiasts! So, we decided to take the 5-hour or so drive (with masks on the entire time!) from Raleigh to Cherokee for an overnight trip. To be extra careful, we confirmed that the casino had strict covid measures in place prior to our travel. However, we did not know what to expect upon arrival (I will write about the casino in a separate review under that topic!). We booked separate rooms, as an extra measure of safety. Regarding the hotel, it was ok. I knew not to have high expectations as lodging options close to the casino were limited. In addition, I didn't want to stay at the casino hotel for two reasons: to decrease the number of people that I would be around (elevator, checking in/out) and due to the price! I also didn't want the added temptation to go into the casino at any hour! The Baymont Wyndham hotel suited the purpose. The room was clean, although somewhat on the darker side. There was a refrigerator but no microwave. My biggest complaint was that I could not get any cell phone reception whether in the hotel room, the lobby or the parking lot area. My cell phone carrier is consumer cellular (phone worked without any problems in casino). My girlfriend was able to use her cell (Verizon). My internet coverage on my laptop tablet was very spotty and went in and out. Hotel staff told me that the coverage issue was due to the hotel being in a valley and the mountains blocking signal for my carrier. It was in no way the hotel's fault. However, I was an unhappy camper - partly because there was no way for anyone to reach me in an emergency...I didn't tell family members where I was going as I didn't want them to worry. My solution was to email my sister from my tablet. It also was good to disconnect from outside and just relax and enjoy tv in my room that night after returning from the casino :-)

We really enjoyed our time. Our room was very clean. The mattress was a bit too hard, but i still slept good. The WiFi was spotty. This hotel was very nice. I appreciated that the room did not smell like smoke. Would definitely stay again
