Great Place to Stay great setting
Spent a couple of nights here on a trip to Sequoia National park. Setting is open and ranch like, with the river being a short walk. The grounds are spacious, the rooms clean and the staff was excellent

I really enjoyed my stay here. All rooms are around a large lawn where wild turkeys roam freely. There are chairs and tables outside the room so you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Service is very friendly, and room amenities are great. Would love to come back.

I love this place!
What a great family, throwback motel/cabin! Nothing fancy here but very clean, quiet, quaint, with plenty to see and do. Located conveniently right outside of the Sequoia national Park. The turkeys woke me up early and I’m sure glad they did. Able to sit outside and enjoy my coffee, watch the turkeys, watch the hummingbirds at the feeders outside of the office area, take a stroll down to the beautiful river, explore the goats and watch the cows on the far hillside. I wish we had more time here. Stayed at the MGM Grand in Vegas the night before. It may be fancier but I’d pick The Lazy J over it anytime! Both gals working the front desk were friendly , Offered advice, and answered my many questions. Learned that the family purchased the place back in 1974 and four siblings still run it together.

Sweet little spot
I took a last minute trip to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks this week and found this lovely little motel. A bit of a step back in time when people were kind and friendly and went out of there way to make you feel welcome. Owner(?) Julie returned my call and we had a few good laughs on the call, and she booked me for two nights. Gave me direction advice, which I was grateful to get...saved me at least an hour or more of driving winding road (245, take 63 if going in from the N).
Upon arrival she was just as friendly, warm and welcoming. She shared where to take nice photos, restaurants, etc.
Then I had an emergent situation and need to return home. She refunded me the second night without batting, an eye. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thank you!
The rooms were quaint, Julie lit the gas fireplace when I booked and I arrived to a warm, cozy room. The room is clean, cleaning staff helpful.
My only suggestion would be to have thicker towels, but a small sacrifice for the warmth and hospitality...goats, dogs and wild turkeys!!!

We stayed at the Lazy J 5 nights. I wasn't sure what to expect as the pictures don't do it justice. The outdated bedspreads have been updated and rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. The gas fireplace warmed our room well. We had a microwave and small refrigerator which was very convenient. Staff is friendly and free movies are available in the office. The river is a short walk and shouldn't be missed. Location is great. Close to Sequoia entrance and restaurants. There are menus in the office. We would stay here again.
