This is such a nice place! Friendly staff. The view from the hotel restaurant is RIDICULOUS! I hope the couple sitting in front of the window didn't think I was awkward staring at them lol. The shuttle service is great, too. It takes you to Denali and into the village so you can go to restaurants.

When we arrived, had to wait for the 3rd Lodge Shuttle because the Shuttle only held 16 people and most everyone arrives by train in Denali. The road up to the hotel was crazy a mile of "S" curves going up a dirt road (a little muddy, too). No one to help with luggage - went to the front desk and 2 teenagers where talking and had to interrupt them, so we could check in. They told us nothing - we had to ask the questions. Lunch for the Tundra tour was way too expensive for what you received. Made reservations at the Overlook, asked if the shuttle went their, I was laughed at. I called the restaurant and they came picked us up and drove us back. Front desk no help, shuttle driver was doing her best and she worked hard for tips (we gave her money every time, she was excellent). Rooms remind me of a Holiday Inn - nothing special. We booked this room in January and they were sold out of king beds!! We were glad we were here for only 2 nights!!! Go someplace else!!

Beautiful location, rundown, overpriced hotel

Would not recommend this hotel. It is need of a refurbishment, with very dated room furnishings, uncomfortable, lumpy beds. The bedlinen was of a very poor quality with threadbare sheets, stringy blankets and worst of all stained bedcover. We actually stripped the bed and used our own travel blankets. The dinner menu was basic, only 3 choices, excuse being they were closing in a few days and the coffee shop was only open for a few hours. Impossible to get coffee or drinks in the afternoon. Whislt the views are incredible the exterior of the hotel is also in need of maintenance. The high hotel rates do not reflect the sub-standard accommodation or service

Yes the view is grand...but if need to get to town it is long and steep walk down the mountain and even a longer walk back up. There is a bus that runs once an hour but not early or late. The food at the Grande View is wicked expensive, the rooms are Motel 6 quality and the staff is indifferent. There seem to be nicer hotels in town within walking distance of everything.

Wow! What a beautiful place to stay. The rooms are cozy and the view is amazing. It’s at the top of this big hill so you get a really great view. The staff were very nice and it has a nice restaurant/cafe as well. The cafe had delicious coffee and the restaurant had really good food as well (there was a vegetarian chili there one night that was amazing!) it’s also really convenient that they have a shuttle that will take you around town
