Beautiful view, but run down accomodations
The view is wonderful. Up a steep road with switchbacks with many shuttles bringing you to and from the train, or on a Denali tour. There is also a shuttle which stops at 3 other locations.
The restaurant is very overpriced - probably is because there is really no other choice once you are on the hill. The breakfast buffet for 28.00 per person was on par with a free hotel buffet. One night we decided on 4 appetizers, 4 wines and 4 beers for four people it and the bill was nearly 200.00.
Our room was on the first floor of the long building. Laminate was coming off the door. Inside the room it just seemed very tired and run down. When in the bathroom you could see out the crack in the door.
The lodge itself is very nice but the rooms and hallways to the rooms seem to need an upgrade.
Be prepared to accept that it is very isolated - and therefore you end up eating at the overpriced restaurant.

Pleasant accommodations with gorgeous views
We enjoyed our three night stay here. The room was sparkling clean, the beds were comfortable, blackout drapes worked well to keep out the nighttime sun, the bureau drawers accommodated all our clothes, and the bathroom was adequate for our needs. More than all that, we loved the view and the quiet. After reading a few TA reviews about the lack of water, I was concerned that would happen, but we had plenty of water our entire stay. I enjoyed taking the shuttle up and down the steep, winding hill to the lodge, mostly because the views were arresting and the signs were hilariously entertaining. I’d stay here again, if in the area.

Nice hotel, but must use shuttle
The hotel is very nice. Nice views. Staff was friendly. The only downside is that you are high on a hill and to get anywhere you use the shuttle service. Unless you are an avid hiker. The shuttle is on an hour loop, so if you miss it, you have to wait another hour. I would recommend staying at one of the hotels in town. Unfortunately, they were booked up during our stay.

Good location- but that’s it
Rough sheets on the beds. No housekeeping during your stay. Crowded lobby and poor service at check in- she couldn’t even tell us which way yo drive yo get yo the Denali visitor center! It is very over priced - but I guess they can do it when there is limited hotel supply in the area. The food was good but very over priced!

Rustic, not that great
We usually hesitate to say anything negative, But we believe it’s important to share some things, especially for the high cost we paid. For the money made while they are open, we expected more. Just not much in the way of amenities. Wish we could say something great, but they need to do a better job to get better ratings. Identifying as rustic is great, but you can still operate a nice hotel and keep it rustic.
1. Staff was very nice
2. Nice view
1. Room was outdated , great if you like 1985
2. Pillows were terrible
3. Ran out of running water during 48 hour stay a couple times
4. Restaurant was expensive and just ok
5. Noisy room next to parking lot, so our sleep wasn’t great either night
6. Elevator was broken
7. High on hill, so you pretty much HAVE to use the shuttle
8. No maids for clean sheets or towels
