Started well, ended up bad

It started well. The hotel is well located, just a few minutes from the gates of the south entrance of the Grand Canyon, and the room (king bed suite with sofa bed) is big. Unfortunately things took a turn to the worst when it was time to go to bed. First, the insulation between rooms seems inexistant. We heard every footstep from our upstairs (3rd floor) neighbors kids, and every yap of dogs down the hall. But the biggest problem was that the sofa bed’s mattress was horrible. We could feel every single spring in it and it was just not possible to lay more than a few seconds before feeling the discomfort. And what made the issue worse is that the hotel didn’t offer a good solution for it, so one of my kids ended up sleeping on the floor. We asked for another mattress — they don’t have any. Two rollaway beds — they can only bring one, which they charged us $35 for (I got the feel canceled the next day but they should not even have been mentioned IMO). One more annoying thing: as Silver members on Hotels.com we got a coupon for dinner at the hotel. I forgot to give it when I paid for the food, and apparently it can’t be used retroactively.

Wife and I stayed here last weekend (3 nights) while visiting Grand Canyon. Booked Queen Deluxe which has two queen beds. Room was reasonable clean (though around bed bases it was dusty plus my wife found a pill, glad didn't have grand kids with us). Room was a good size and in main building. HVAC control didn't seem to work and blasted heat no matter how far down we turned it. Choice was completely off or heat. Had a nice soaking tub/shower combo in bath room. Because of tub, I called first thing in the morning and asked for extra towels Friday (our second day). I called housekeeping first but no answer so called front desk. They said would have them delivered along with other supplies. Got everything but main goal, bath towels. When down stairs later on our way out to dinner, asked for bath towels a second time. When returned after dinner, still no towels. Saturday morning asked for 3rd time for bath towels at desk, was told they would have them delivered. We were gone all day and when we returned after dinner still no towels. Wife had to go down stairs for tea and asked for fourth time because she didn't want me to go. I was not happy and was going to bring the old wet towels down and dump on the front desk. Instead I just dump towels, bagged trash, etc. outside our door. Someone finally showed up with the towels but they weren't happy about stuff in the hall. He was smart enough not to say anything. This could have been a very pleasant stay but one shouldn't have to beg for towels. Only thing I could think of is some pin head manager doesn't allow staff to leave supplies at the door like every other hotel we've stayed at and has to give them to guests? I don't know, it was just frustrating to deal with. I get messing up one request, but to take 4 tries over two full days to fill a simple request is inexcusable. Note their is no cleaning service no matter how many days one stays due to Covid. Location of hotel is minutes from north rim park entrance and staff are nice just not real efficient. When ever at desk when another guest was checking out, each had one or more issues with room, smoke, smells, room itself etc. The casual bar/restaurant was closed while we were there. We had dinner the first night in their more formal dinning area and weren't impressed with that either. It was just average with high end prices. The Big E steak house was better and little less expensive. BW Squire Inn appeared to be nicest hotel in town but I don't know if I'd stay there again.

Nearly ruined our trip

Very noisy. The room smelled of powerful chemicals even with the windows opened for hours (in November). We were told there was only one dinner option and that the replacement breakfast option for early hikers was to go to McDonald's. It took a call and three trips to the frontdesk to do our laudry because mutiple machines were broken without signs and took our money anyway. At that point, we stopped asking for help or indications even if a Grand Canyon visit wasn't exactly intuitive for us. We were going hotel to hotel across the US and this one was by a strong measure the priciest and the worst.

Family of 4. Highly recommend

Great place to come back to after a busy day. Hotel amenities were enjoyed by all of us. The pool. The hot tub. The gym. The laundry facility was a plus after a long trip. Comfy beds and breakfast was yummy too. We enjoyed the boxed lunches as well and had a fun picnic lunch during our exploring of the Grand Canyon. Great area with convenient shops and lots of options for dinner.

I came here on a school trip this month and I don’t like writing bad reviews but this place was pretty bad. Of course we didn’t get to go to the bowling alley or the pool because we were at the Grand Canyon, but here are some of the things that could have definitely been better during our experience. As soon as me and my roommates walked in we could smell cigarette smoke (even though smoking is prohibited) and as we got ready for bed after a long day of traveling, found stains and hair that was not ours in our sheets. We immediately felt uncomfortable and were glad to go get some food. We got to dinner and fixed our plates to find semi-cooked pasta with some other okay food which was expected from a Best Western. On the bright side, the people were nice and cleaned our room when we were out for the day. The only really good thing here was the breakfast in my opinion, but at least we had somewhere to sleep. I’m sure there are plenty of people who had a good stay, but ours was surely not one.
