Not what I expected...
I thought that we were staying at a downtown boutique style hotel. Instead I felt that I was staying at a motel. The room was situated in a line of what can best be described as little adjoining cabins. The room was very small but comfortable. the location is excellent for walking around downtown. The value is relative since everything in Jackson is expensive.

Did not sleep a wink.
I had a 2 night stay at the Anvil Hotel, and let me start with the positives. The location is superb, close to everything, and I know others have said parking can be tricky, fortunately I never had that problem. The hotel is an old motel, which I knew, and the decor is very nice, the rooms are nicely appointed with a nice style and decor, and they have complimentary coffee in the lobby from 7am to 11am each morning.
Now to the areas that are not so good, or really need addressing on the part of the hotel. First off, it's expensive for what it really is, but that is not purely the Anvil's issue, its supply and demand in Jackson.
When I checked in the evening we arrived the lady at the front desk was helping someone else who was at the wrong hotel, she graciously provided the man with a lot of help, but once he was done she answered a call on the phone, and was on hold, all the time having a paying guest looking to check-in right in front of her! There was no ‘welcome’, or ‘if there’s anything you need’, or even ‘have a nice stay’, it was simply ‘your room is….’. I found that all the staff at the hotel were not rude, but definitely not warm, they had quite a nonchalant attitude, which I have read elsewhere too.
The room. The room and bathroom is very small, and tight, and my room was #108 and was quite dark. But as I said, it was nicely decorated and the toiletries provided were nice too. My main issue with the room was the bed, it was so uncomfortable, as were the extremely high pillows. The mattress had no edging, so it sagged completely at the sides, I really didn’t sleep for the two nights there….and I know mattress types are to preference…..so maybe I am the problem. I didn’t experience any hallway noise as others have stated, it was completely quiet as I lay awake each night unable to sleep on the uncomfortable mattress!
Would I stay here again, for many reasons (location) I would recommend, but based on the fact I got no sleep for two nights, I personally most definitely would not. But as I have said, that could be just me!

Kudos to the photographer!
This is mix of hits and misses. First the hits. Great location, friendly and helpful staff and rooms that have been stylishly designed (and photographed). Comfortable - if squeaky - beds. Plus Glorietta, the restaurant - the real star!
Now the misses. It is incredibly noisy between floors and with the wooden walkways outside. I mean, really noisy. Also, the light fixtures in the rooms look nice but they picked the ones with the lowest-possible wattage. And there is no water pressure in the showers. And there was white scum on the dark blue door frames (see pics) that I wiped off because the cleaning people didn't). I think it's been three years since the renovation. Time for a touch up and enhancement. With just a little more, this place would shine. Until then, stay somewhere else but have dinner at Glorietta.

Should have believed the reviews
We were two couples booking two rooms for a three night stay in Jackson last week. We asked for two rooms near each other on the Cache st. side of the property. We arrived at 5:00. One room was on the Cache st .side. The other was in the back in the old part. It is the smallest room I have ever stayed in. Couldn't open the window because the window air conditioner is bolted in. The chain lock on the door was dangling and not workable. Dark paint. Expressed our dislike of this room and were moved to the Cache st. side the next night as they are larger rooms. Sink was stopped up and had to be fixed. For $369 a night you are paying for the convenient location in Jackson. It is not worth the money. It was disappointing to spend that amount of money for a dark and dreary motel room. I had read some reviews expressing these same concerns but the town was sold out so we were stuck. Believe the reviews.

Decided to stay at the Anvil as It was very close to our friends apartment and wanted the option to walk there and also through out town. The location was awesome. So close to town which made it easy to head out shopping or for a bite to eat. The staff were all very friendly and checking in and out was very easy. The room was nice. It's a bit of an older property, but they seemed to have taken care of it well. Our room appeared to have been painted recently and everything worked as it should. I had read much about the thin walls, that wasn't a problem for me, never noticed anything out of the ordinary. Some services were weren't being performed due to covid, but they had a happy hour between 4 and 6 pm and free coffee that they served us in the morning, those were nice touches. Friday nights they had live music which was a nice touch. I wouldn't hesitate to stat here again!
