The hotel was very nice and up to the standard you expect with SpringHill Suites. There is a restaurant that is a real hot spot that a local recommended to us on property. It was quite good. It's not cheap, but quite a good menu and a really popular place. The breakfast was good as that is one of the reasons to stay with this particular brand for a family. The location is really good, but there were a lot of homeless so we didn't feel like walking by the riverside. This seems to be an issue in Fairbanks and Anchorage that we observed a lot of. It's not a hotel issue, just FYI.

Great Hotel in Fairbanks
I stayed at the SpringHill suites in Fairbanks, Alaska, in June 2021. I found that the staff were very friendly and accommodating and that the rooms were clean. The breakfast was generous and hot. The hotel has free shuttle to and from the airport and other locations upon request and availability. They allow you to store luggage before your room is ready and also afterwards if you have a late flight and need to store some luggage while you shop around town.. The location is downtown and they have an excellent restaurant in the hotel.

Most disappointing hotel/ perhaps Motel-why call it Marriott
I can’t understand why give the name Marriott to this place which is almost like a poor roadside cheap Motel. What a waste that the name of Marriott is linked with this so called prestigious hotel.
We reached here from Dallas to Fairbanks 7 hours flying and door to door 12 hours of travel.
The place was very tight for 3 people to share.
Stale feel and very low lights made the room depressing.
The room was made up only for two. The third person was to sleep on sofa/ bed.
Sofa was left as it is and we were desperately tired and wanting to sleep. Eventually we thought of doing it ourselves. Didn’t find any bed linen for the sofa bed in the room. So we called the reception to get some one to provide the linen for, and help with getting the sofa bed usable for sleeping.
The receptionist - not being very helpful said- we will only send some one when they show up. We had been requesting it since 9 PM.
At 11.15 pm one woman came and asked us to step away from the room due to Covid. We had to stand in the corridors in our PJs for 15 minutes while she and a guy procured the bed linens and she “made” the room, which was done very poorly. They came to make the room but HAD NO LINEN with them.
Don’t they do this work often in their hotel?
The breakfast barely OK but we knew not to expect much. Sharp at 9 the removal of food started happening. The food was that of typical motel and facilities of sitting were also very basic.
But my main objection was to have been massively inconvenienced when we were booked for 3 people and were given a raw deal.
BTW we happen to be Marriott Gold.
My trust from Marriott has been eroded sharply after getting such abysmal service at this place in Fairbanks.

We stayed here the last night of our Alaska trip and the accommodations could not have been better. Large room with coffee maker, microwave. We had the continental breakfast and it was very good. Always a pleasure to stay at a Marriott. The shuttle from the train station and then to the airport was right on time.

The three main things about this hotel
We had a blip prior to arrival with free night certificates and points getting mixed up. We received an email from Taylor a hotel manager prior to arrival stating that there was potential issue with our reservation. We used the hotel texting app to inform him that the issue had been resolved a week earlier. Taylor took it upon himself to fix everything and texted us the all clear prior to our arrival. This was above and beyond and we were impressed. Turns out that Taylor was not the only high quality member of this team, the ladies at check were so friendly and helpful when we arrived at midnight. The breakfast crew is so generous and helpful. That is the first main thing about the hotel - great people and very well run. The second is the location. It is an easy walk to so many of the main attractions, shopping and restaurants. Really ideal location. The third main thing is that hotel and the rooms are a lot smaller than the marketing pictures would lead you to believe. They must have used really wide angle lens in those photos. When we opened the door to our rooms we just laughed because it was much smaller than we expected. Nothing wrong with the size of the rooms but not what the pictures would lead you to believe. Couple of other things - breakfast was great - sort of back to normal - scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, hot oatmeal, cereals, muffins, juices, lots of coffee all the usual stuff that we were used to seeing before covid. Wi-Fi is so-so. A car is a must. The main visitor center is a short walk along the waterfront walkway and was a great start to our time in Fairbanks. They seem to be really happy to have visitors back. Everywhere we went we were met by friendly smiles and a welcoming spirit.
