This hotel was in a convenient location. We could walk to the main strip where the restaurants and shops were located and it was minutes to Mt. Rushmore. We had a comfortable king room with a couch. Good coffee always available in the lobby. No daily cleaning due to COVID but fresh towels and supplies where available at the front desk.

Great hotel located close to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Hill City, and more!

Great hotel located close to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Hill City, and more! We stayed 2 nights, but could have stayed longer as it was so central to what we were doing. The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming! They provided good recommendations for places to eat locally, and they were right! The lobby is one of the nicest I’ve seen — not the same boring cookie cutter design that most hotels have. The breakfasts were COVID-19 friendly, but not just grab-and-go. Things like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is in a multi use dispenser, so you don’t feel bad throwing out half used little bottles of product. The pool and hot tub appeared nice, but we didn’t use either. Parking was easy and Keystone is very walkable so that made life a little easier. Bottom line, it’s a nice place to stay located near many of South Dakota’s attractions.

This is an older Holiday Inn, but very well maintained. The breakfast was awesome. Due to Covid, they've made some changes, so the hot items are wrapped Jimmy Dean biscuit breakfast sandwiches: Egg/cheese/choice of bacon, ham or sausage. There is a decent variety of packaged bakery items, yogurts, cereal, milk/juice/coffee. There was a waffle making machine. While seating is limited, there are trays handy to take breakfast to your room. There's a nice outside area with tables outside the (indoor) pool area. We were on the first floor near the laundry area (1 washer, 2 dryers) & vending, but it really didn't bother us at all. The king bed had one of the most comfortable mattresses we had ever slept on. Unfortunately, we forgot to check and see if we could tell what type it was. Our room had a fridge/microwave/ coffee maker and sink/cabinet area. The bathroom was a decent size. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, responding quickly to any little issue (slow draining sink in bathroom). House keeping was top notch (shout out to Carla and Valentina who kept our room spic & span). If we return to Keystone, you bet we are heading right back to this hotel. At the time, vaccinated guests (we are) were not expected to mask. Basically, it's an honor system. Frankly, I'm not sure the state of South Dakota got the memo about Covid, so I'm not going to find fault with Holiday Inn on this one! There is hand sanitizer in the lobby. They also have a nice coffee bar available in the lobby. The hotel is located at the end of Swanzey which is right off the "main drag" of Keystone. Plenty of eating establishments, stores, etc. within walking distance. The 1880's train station is within walking distance.

This hotel had comfortable beds and pillows along with a spacious room - we had a king which had a pull out sofa. Also had a complimentary breakfast which was not anything real impressive but I understand (hot sandwich yogurt, apples, bananas, juices, coffee etc.) The front desk person was pleasant, accommodating to get us close to our granddaughters whom we were surprising, and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a great experience at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites. The hotel is easily accessible, has ample parking near the entrance, a very clean and well-attended free breakfast, and free, accessible coffee at most hours of the day. Vending was stocked, ice machine worked....all the comforts we needed. It was a terrific home base for our Mt. Rushmore adventure, has loads of brochures about attractions, and is within a short walk of the arcade, restaurants, and Keystone shops. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the room was clean. We were on the second level, and had no problems with noise as another reviewer noted...possibly due to time of travel.
