Feeling robbed & disgusted !!!

Having worked for over 30 years in the hospitality industry (15 in various GM roles for IHG, Kempinski, Starwood), I am ashamed for the theft the guys at Holiday Inn Express Grand Canyon have exposed me to. When I booked 1 month ago I availed an”early bird discount rate” ... upon check in today I found the same room type via the same distribution channel (Booking.com) during the same dates, aka today some 15% cheaper... very dishonest management decision to operate like this And even worse is the used bath-cap on the inside hook of the bathroom door, yuk - thank you previous guest and housekeeping staff ... and that for 300$ a night, a price I could rent a room in a good 5 star hotels in London, Shanghai, Paris or Rome

We arrived in the late afternoon midweek for a 1 night stay. We opted for the king suite. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the news that the resort had no tv service. No cable TV at all. Not really a big deal but an amenity you would expect when paying a lot for a hotel room.  The woman who was at the desk (I won't say helping us - because she didn't) said we could move to the other building with standard queen beds. I asked if it was a different price and she said no. So a downgrade from a suite to a standard room with no price change or stay in the suite with no TV. It was a standoff. She refused to budge. But I also refused to move to the side until this was resolved. She finally relented and took 15% off the room rate. It's a bit sad from a customer service standpoint that it was not immediately offered. Shows how much they care for their customers.  And was the room worth it? Nope.  And just curious what kind of clientele they have when they feel the need to put a sticker on the toilet telling people not to drink the water from the toilet! Classy place.  Can't say much about the free breakfast either. Food was in short supply. Either due to too many guests or not enough food. Hard to say.  Honestly, we may have been better off at a cheaper hotel in the area. I probably wouldn't have been so annoyed. I think they get away with this behavior only because of the proximity to the GC entrance.  Oh, and I think the front desk clerk intentionally credited my points to the wrong IHG rewards account.  Don't do it people, find another place to stay.

We had a suite in the adults only building which was quiet. We had our own area for breakfast as well. Chris at the front desk was excellent. He was extremely helpful and pleasant. We thought the hotel was a bit dated but clean and well priced.

This was a nice hotel. Typical Holiday Inn. Breakfast was very good, very busy, the lady replenishing food was very friendly. The main positive is the location. It is right outside the park entrance. A general store, load up drinks and snacks before going to park, and gas station are located close by and I believe there was a McDonald’s. It should not be over $250 but I guess it’s just supply and demand.

We stayed here after traveling from Winslow, AZ and spending all day in the Grand Canyon. The common areas, rooms and pool areas are very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast was kept stocked and the area was kept clean. The only downside to our stay was there were a lot of rude guests who treated others and the staff poorly. We’d stay here again.
