Waterton Lakes Lodge is overpriced and the rooms were outdated. It felt like a large dorm room. The location is close to everything. Nothing was open including Vimys Lounge, no snacks or drinks, nor swimming pool, sauna, fitness center etc., as advertised. I would not return.

Clean and comfortable, quirky decor and a vintage feel we enjoyed watching the local elk on the property. It was very walkable to restaurants and a good home base from which to explore the area. A real gem of a hotel in a gem of a park, highly recommended.

Feels like you are in a motel. Needs major renos.

Rooms are overpriced. The only thing good here is the location. Everything is OLD. The type of old that's not (cute old rustic vibe) Just OLD, needs replacement kind of thing. This resort is needing a major renovation. Feels like you are in a motel.

I will preface this review by saying that we will stay at Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort again 2023 as it is the only accommodation that offers a "full" kitchen. And, given these inflationary times with soaring labor costs and shortages, as travelers we have to expect value v. cost issues and therefore I will not comments on costs or service/amenity levels. I liked the central location in town and the cost savings to cook our own meals. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The new kitchen had the basics to prep a simple meal for 2. What I thought they could do better was the general maintenance of the rooms (or at least ours). The screen door that slammed. The front door that you had to slam to close. The ant fest on the entrance deck. The holes left unpatched in the bathroom when the towel rack was removed. A hot room upon our arrival. The small things. As well, with 28-33 c sunny weather, the air conditioner could not keep the room cold if the drapes were left open and/or the oven was on. Lastly, all the kitchen suites were on the ground floor and due to the wood frame constructions, noise transfer was an issue between floors - especially with the guests above us trying to their steps in before bed every night. But, with the only kitchen suites in town... that was important to us and the listed annoyances were not enough to deter us especially when you factor the cost of eating out in town with limited offerings - expensive for the quantity and quality. The backcountry hiking however, OMG, far better than Banff or Jasper in every respect which is why we will return in 2023. The front desk staff were courteous and professional.

Waterton is a beautiful park. We stayed at a very nice place, Wateron Lakes Lodge and the price was very reasonable. Very nice little town and extremely friendly people. Highly recommend a trip to Waterton park.
