Booked in here as a group on our last night after spending 8 nights travelling about the area. So terribly disappointed with it. While the location is beautiful , there is not much to do and limited options for eating and drinking . Especially when one doesn’t have a car and is on a tour bus. The reception area is lovely . Reception staff are helpful and pleasant. BUT , the rooms, they are old and dated. They was an odd smell and they were uncomfortably warm ( even though I love heat). They are dull and very unpleasant. The toilet was leaking. Everything about the accommodation was unpleasant.

Strange hotel near Banff

This hotel is in a beautiful setting. We came on a Monday at the end of April for two nights on the way to a trip on the Rocky Mountain railroad. The rooms were old and tired: they really need to smarten it up. The bedroom was clean, but there was a curious smell on the sheets. ( they changed them willingly the following morning) Staff were cheerful and helpful. The big BUT with this place is the dining arrangements. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and has the monopoly of evening eating after 6.00pm for miles around. So why on earth is only one of three restaurants open on weekdays? And that restaurant is small, so waiting 30-40 minutes for a meal is regular. They don’t seem to care and smugly realise that eat with us or not at all is a good policy for them…. but not the guests. The only place to have a drink is in the restaurant that is open that night… so no drink while you wait for them to do you the big favour of feeding you. Why can’t you get a drink in the bar… because it is closed. I will not accept the excuse that it is “off season” because I was a customer and so were many others. Forget this place.if you are going on the Rocky Mountain Railway, get another hotel that works properly and get a cab to the train.

Adequate hotel, good location

It’s adequate. We stayed due to the location and proximity to the slopes, which did not disappoint. Lake Louise is quiet but that suited us but there was a mini supermarket and shops that provided everything we needed. We stayed in block 2. The room whilst clean was pretty cramped for a family of three and quite dated (think 1980s artex ceiling, beige wallpaper and worn carpet). Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss, soap, toilet roll etc. not replenished during our 5 day stay. The standard of the hotel is not really in keeping with the prices charged. Pool area was nice and kept clean. Lovely to be able to swim at the end of a day skiing. Restaurants were good and the staff super friendly. Though we had a disappointing experience in the Explorers towards the end of our trip. We went for dinner relatively early (still within the “family time when children are welcome in the bar and restaurant) but there was a “comedy” night on (and I use the term comedy here lightly as the first act was not good). Within a minute of starting every other word was f**k or similar, totally inappropriate for our child. So, we left before eating. The restaurant staff were very understanding and helpful. However, on mentioning this to the reception staff before heading back to the room, they were unhelpful with a somewhat churlish reply of well the event is on every week there is nothing we can do - completely missing the point of why we were upset. I did not feel it was unreasonable to think that the mix of families and foul language was not a good one. The “comedy” could have started 30mins later once children were no longer permitted in Explorers which I think would have suited everyone. Unfortunately, those experience and the reception staff response has left a really bad taste at the end of our trip.

Spring Skiing at Lake Louise

We love spring in the Rockies. The snow is excellent, the temperature warm and there are no crowds. We booked the Inn because our previous stay was excellent. They did not disappoint. At check in, there was a problem with the reservation. The front desk waved a magic wand and it went away. Remarkable friendly service. Skiing leads to hot tubs. We enjoyed a good soak every night. The pool area, deck and tubs were bright, cheerful, a most pleasant place to meet other travellers. We found the house pizza and pasta an excellent value. Not having to leave the Inn for dinner was a real plus for these travellers. We will be back next year.

Three couples shared 2 - 2 bedroom suites for a ski vacation. The location (5 minutes from the ski slopes) is ideal. Staff were attentive and friendly
